Iceland Helicopter Tour from Reykjavik: Eyjafjallajökull Adventure
2h30
About this activity
This tour offers a once in a lifetime aerial view of the infamous volcano Eyjafjallajokull, the volcano whose name cannot be easily pronounced. Take off from Iceland´s capital Reykjavik and fly into the Geothermal area Hengill to see the bubbling pools.
Soak up incredible views as you approach Eyjafjallajokull glacier. Eyjafjallajökull consists of a volcano completely covered by an ice cap. The ice cap covers an area of about 100 square kilometres (39 sq miles)
Step out of the helicopter upon landing on the icy ground and be amazed! There you can feel the crystal pure air and yes its quite cold to pass over the Thorsmörk National park mountain ridge. One of the area’s most scenic spots, Thorsmörk is surrounded by glaciers, mountains and rivers and bordered by the towering Mýrdalsjökull, Eyjafjallajökull and Tindfjallajökull glaciers.
Hop back inside your helicopter and enjoy your scenic route back to the city. Soar over the black sand beaches on Iceland’s south coast before crossing the Blue Mountain range and taking in your final aerial views of Reykjavik.
The aerial view is like nothing else and gives you a good idea of what went on when this was formed oh so many years ago.
Make sure your memory card has plenty of room because you are going to need it!
