About this activity
One of the most stunning natural wonders, the seeing the aurora borealis is an unmissable Icelandic adventure. Seeing the northern lights dancing in the arctic night sky with their brilliant colors from every shade of the rainbow is an unforgettable sight. We will leave the city lights behind us and drive out into the countryside, ensuring that you have the best chance of seeing the northern lights in all their beauty and wonder. We cannot promise in advance precisely where our search for the northern lights will bring us on this minibus tour. However, we will follow the best aurora and cloud forecast available to maximize your chances of seeing the northern lights shimmering across the Milky Way galaxy. But you can bet we will take you far away from the light pollution to make sure the only lights you see will be from the night sky. Places we can travel to are Hvalfjörður, Þingvellir, Reykjanes, or to some other South Iceland countryside location. Seeing the northern lights up close is an unbelievably surreal experience that you will never forget. Be sure to bring a camera along because you will want to capture these extraordinary natural wonders. The quest for the northern lights is exciting and the moment they appear will leave you breathless. The northern lights can be subtle when they first appear, but the colors will gradually build up, become bolder and expand into shining patterns dancing throughout the sky. The northern lights are always a special sight regardless of whether they are more subtle or dramatic. In Iceland and other parts of the world, green and yellow auroras are the most frequent sightings. Blues, violet and rose northern lights are less common everywhere in the world because they contain elements of the red spectrum in varying degrees. More common in Iceland than any other place in the world are the extremely bold red auroras, from rose to brighter and darker red tones, but they are still rare.
