About this activity
We can say with certainty that the Aurora Borealis is one of the most unique spectacles that life on Earth has to offer. That is why we make every effort to provide an unforgettable Northern Lights experience to our passengers with daily tours, supervised by our expert guides.

After operating Northern Lights hunting tours for many years, we know a thing or two about finding the best possible viewing conditions. Before each tour, we study the weather forecasts to help us decide what the best location that night will be.

If the conditions are right, you may be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights swirling in a wild and carefree dance across the heavens, painting dramatic shapes, colors and patterns on the night sky.

I was able to take a tour to see the Northern Lights in Iceland. It was about a 45 minute ride from Reykjavik to the an area where there was no lights close by. We were fortunate and the night we went was fabulous for Northern lights. If you want pictures, make sure you download the app for northern lights so you can take pictures with your smart device.

It was a cold night but the Northern Lights were amazing. We needed to wait for like an hour to see them dance, they change colors, red, purple, green, yellow. Great night. Exellent tour.

After staring at the black sky for an hour we got rewarded with 45 seconds of a sight I’ll never forget. We had perfect weather conditions but remember it’s up to nature if you are gonna see something or not. Expect nothing.

We drove for an hour or so to get out from under the clouds and then there were the stars blanketing the sky. As the sky got darker, the lights started dancing across the sky. At first they were white, then came the vivid green. Everyone oh'd and ah'd. We stayed there for an hour. It was wonderful!

We got a great opportunity to see and photograph the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, the way the bus was parked at the edge of a road with a steep drop-off just past the edge, it was a recipe for disaster. Everyone standing against the bus to get out of the wind made passage to in front of the bus where there was room to put up a tripod a challenge, and the guide did nothing to keep people from blocking the path. The result was that an older gentleman fell down the drop-off and broke his ankle. We then were delayed in returning to Reykjavik while we waited for an ambulance to come and take him to the hospital.

The trip was well organised but the weather was too cloudy for the lights to appear and the next day was also cancelled because of bad weather so never saw them

first off we weren't lucky with the weather as it was cloudy all week. the original night we were scheduled for was cancelled due to poor weather. the following day the weather was even worse and to my surprise the tour was on. It had been raining all day and the weather forecast was not promising at all but according to our guide we were going to a spot where there was a chance we would see them. I honestly was very skeptical as I had checked the weather and aurora forecast for that night and it was not the greatest. Anyhow I was disappointed with the guide. I thought his tone and pauses were more annoying than anything else and some times he wouldn't talk for a very long time. I know it's all in Mothers nature's hand but I felt like that night the excursion was on just so that they could say they tried. and that we wouldn't haven't to get refunded for not even going at all

Good overall. Aurora did not want to come out and say hello. Bus picked up at a convienent location. Bus provided adequate space.

Got to see white lights but was disappointed that we only went to one spot instead of moving to another, we were very close to the city of Reykjavík as well

O.K., we saw the lights. However, where they parked the bus for us to get out and see the lights was very steep. With only 3 feet or so to walk on we had to hug the bus so as not to fall down the incline. One of my friends fell and had to be helped up, and someone on another bus broke his leg.

The night we booked the northern lights tour we had waited for the transfer for 30 mins and it never showed. I rang grayline to find out about the delay and they told me that the tour had been cancelled. We booked through viator and would have expected an email from them letting us know that it was cancelled. Thankfully the woman from grayline I spoke to was very nice and rebooked the tour first us for the next day. The tour itself was really good and we did see the lights.

We took the Northern Lights tour on January 25, 2019. It was very organized, the bus picked us up on time and we had a very nice driver and tour guide. We did have to wait a couple of hours but just as we were about to give up we saw the lights!!! The guide was great, some of us waited on the bus as it was cold out, they came in and gave updates and let us know when they were fully visible. I would not want to drive in Iceland in the winter, the bus was the way to go!
