About this activity
You do not even have to worry about how to get there, your awesome guide will pick you up at your hotel before you start this amazing tour.
While you drive the Reykjanes Peninsula and enjoy the lava all around you, your guide will tell you all about the Peninsula and where the trolls live and where the elves are.
Your first stop is at two lighthouses that are located on top of Reykjanes Peninsula just outside an old fishing village. One of the lighthouses were built during World War II. There you can see old wooden boat on dry. While marveling at the ocean and the view you have there, you will have a taste of one of Iceland´s oldest food, fermented shark. With it you have an Iceland made wine, “Black Death”.
Next stop is Reykjanes oldest fishing village. There you can visit an old black church that has an anchor from an old American ship that ran aground off the village in 130 years ago. While you marvel at this old anchor you will have a taste of Icelandic beer.
Continue we drive from the North America part of Iceland to the European part of it.
There you can walk between the two continents. I´m not sure if that is possible to do anywhere else in the world. This is a very unique experience. It gets better, you can stand in between the two continents. It is popular to take a photo of oneself holding the bridge. While standing in between the two continents, you will have a taste of some delicacies from Ostabúðin. Variety of cheeses and meat.
A short drive down Europe you will visit and old female ghost named Gunna. She had a hot spring area named after her, “Gunnuhver”. Sometimes when you stand near the hot spring you suddenly feel getting cold. That is her breathing down your neck. We will give you also a taste of buns from Iceland´s finest bakery, Braud og Co.
Next to this colorful geothermal are is Iceland´s oldest lighthouse, Reykjanesviti or Reykjanes lighthouse. It is standing on a big hill like a boss. When you get on top of that hill and stand next to the big lighthouse, you get the most stunning view over everything. The ocean, the amazing cliffs next to it, Gunnuhver and all the lava around.
You will also have a walk up to the cliffs standing next to the lighthouse. There you can enjoy the view over the ocean and just smell the fresh air from the ocean. This is something very unique. Who is up for another beer tasting? Enjoy it while you sit and enjoy the ride to next stop.
Our favorite stop is next. A nature made tub that is almost in the ocean. It is cold though and is only for the strongest ones to get into. If you get into it, this will be the most memorable thing you do in your Icelandic trip.
Your last stop before heading back to Reykjavik is the amazing walking path next to the Blue Lagoon. There you are surrounded by incredible lava fields. If you haven´t had enough of Icelandic delicacies, you will get a taste of Iceland´s famous Skyr.
