Stop At: Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir Iceland
Head first to Thingvellir National Park with your guide. It was here, in the year 930, that the Icelandic national parliament was founded. Known locally as Althingi, the institution stands today as the oldest of its kind in the world, but that’s not the only reason it’s such a special place. It is here, in the Thingvellir National Park, that the mighty tectonic plates of North America and Europe meet.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Gullfoss Parking, Gullfossi, Iceland
Continue on to the impressive Gullfoss waterfall, widely considered to be one of Iceland’s most beautiful sights. Gullfoss is fed by the Hvítá River, which tumbles down dramatically over a series of rocky steps into deep plunge pools below. Marvel at the falls’ power and perhaps take a moment to capture the views on camera.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Strokkur, Haukadalsvegur, Geysir Iceland
Journey on to the Haukadalur geothermal area, where the hot springs of Geysir and Strokkur await. Discover impressive geothermal features such as bubbling mud pools, and marvel at the Strokkur geyser’s regular eruptions before returning to Reykjavik.
Duration: 45 minutes

This tour was originally due to leave the port at 1 p.m. We were sent an email advising us the tour would leave at 2 p.m. Absolutely mass confusion at the port. No signage to tell you where to meet your tour. It was cold and damp and when we finally found the pick-up spot we stood outside with promises that the buses were ''on their way''. We stood there for an hour and a half with no communication from the Grayline rep. It was terrible service at the nth degree. Never book with Grayline for this tour. Horrible service. The tour itself covered good ground, although at the end of the tour, we were so late that the shops were already closed and no washroom facilities were available. It was a good thing we were in port over night because we would have missed our ship due to the lateness of the tour starting.
The sights we saw were great! The tour was ruined by Graylines guide, and the way they handled our group. We were picked up at our ship, then dropped off at a bus terminal where we had to find an office person to locate which bus our tour was on. Bus was over crowded, drop off point wasn’t anywhere near our ship, guide very unfriendly. We’ve used Viator before and always had smaller groups, informative, friendly guides, and knew where pick up and drop off points where. If Grayline operates this tour you’ll be very unhappy!
