Skaftafell Hiking and Climbing Adventure
Iceland is sometime called “The Land of Ice and Fire.” Situated on the meeting point of two tectonic plates, earthquakes and volcanic activity is a common occurrence. Owing to its geographical location in the Arctic, temperatures are quite low, and a number of glaciers and ice-tipped mountains exist. Approximately 11% of Iceland is covered in glaciers. As a result, it is the perfect location for glacier hiking. Ice climbing is also another popular activity in this region. The Svínafellsjökull glacier, part of the massive Vatnajökull glacier has been used as scenery for a number of movies. James Bond, Interstellar and the TV show Game of Thrones have been shot in these regions.
