Small-group Glacier Lagoon Jökulsárlón & South Coast tour
This is a great tour opportunity for guests looking to maximize their time when going to visit Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon - we also make stops along the way to admire the beauty of South Iceland. And all in the comfort of a small group. You will start your day when you are picked up from Reykjavik, before being whisked away down the picturesque South Coast, passing gorgeous meadows, rugged coastlines and traditional farmsteads.
You will visit the 60-meter high waterfall, Seljalandsfoss, considered a staple stop for sightseeing trips down the coast. Visitors here can walk behind the waterfall if they dare. You will make a refreshment stop at the southernmost village of Iceland - Vik i Myrdal where if you walk down the beach, you will be amazed by the sea stacks. Legend has it that the stack is in fact made up of the frozen figures of trolls who were turned to stone while playing in the sea.
Continuing along the south towards the east, you’ll be amazed as the scenery transforms from rich farmlands and dramatic mountains to darkened outwash plains, black deserts and staggering areas of natural elevation. If the conditions allow, you will also pay a visit to the stunning river canyon of Fjadrargljufur. Finally, you will reach the highlight of the day, Jokulsarlon, where you will be immediately taken within its ethereal ambiance, glittering icebergs, incredible panoramic views, and lively wildlife.
You will also be able to walk between the icebergs on the so-called “Diamond” or “Crystal” beach, a black sand beach at the coastline near the Glacier Lagoon. In the Skaftafell National Park area if the road conditions allow you will make a stop at the outlet glacier, Svinafellsjokull, and get insight into this country’s fascinating geological makeup. On the way back you will stop to look at an old turf church.
