About this activity
After pickup from your hotel in the morning, you will start your tour by visiting Thingvellir, the beautiful national park that was accepted on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2004. It was here that the Alþingi, the Icelandic Parliament, was was established in the 10th century.
Enjoy the view of the countryside while your tour continues to the magnificent waterfall of Gullfoss. Witness the forces of untouched nature as the water falls down 32 meters in two stages into the craggy canyon. Gullfoss literally means Golden Waterfall, and is extremely beautiful.
Next stop will be the Geysir area which includes several hot springs as well as Strokkur, the geyser which spouts large amounts of water into the air every 10-minues or so, often at heights of 10 to 20 meters above the ground.
Then the tour continues to Skálholt, the old episcopal sea, where you can see among other things an old sarcophagus which dates back to the early 13th century and the beautiful modern day church Skálholtskirkja which is decorated by Icelandic artist.
There will also be an extra stop at the Rauðhólar (Redhills) phenomenon which are remnants of a cluster of pseudo-craters. The only other places this phenomenon has been discovered are other places in Iceland and in the Athabasca Valles region of Mars.
Be transported back to you accommodation at the end of the tour.

absolutely brilliant tour. great value for money. unique and informative with more locations than the usual tours and a fascinating and intelligent commentary. new, high spec. and comfortable minibus and smaller group sizes accomodating everyone's needs. the tour guide was caring and friendly.
This tour was the best! Virtually a private tour of the golden circle and other stops that the regular tour guides would not have stopped at. Sven was great; added a lot of educational information, great with my son, we saw the Icelandic ponies and 3 other places. Highly recommended, by far the best
This tour was incredible! Having a small group of 10 made it intimate and easy to travel with everyone. We got to see sights we did not expect and our tour guide, Sveinbjorn, was so knowledgable and charismatic. This was by far our favorite and most eventful day in Iceland!
This tour exceeded my expectations. We mainly booked it to see the Waterfall and Geyser however Sveinbjorn, our guide, really went out of his way to show us unique and wonderful parts of the Icelandic terrain. We walked inside an inactive volcano, stroked wild horses and learnt some interesting history!
We saw all the advertised attractions for the tour but little else. Our tour guide/driver who goes by Thor was basically stuck to the bus and offered minimal guidance as to where to best view the attraction or what special things to look for. All four of us were somewhat underwhelmed and a bit disappointed when we returned to the hotel less than seven hours into it.
Sven sp was wonderful! He was kind, and informative - a walking encyclopedia! The trip was worth every penny plus some. My mom is handicapped and he went out of his way to make her feel comfortable. would def recommend this tour!
