Like Pompeii, Herculaneum was buried beneath 60 feet of ash when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. A bit wealthier and smaller than Pompeii, Herculaneum was a hub of activity in ancient times.
From the baths to the amphitheatre, life was luxurious by the Bay of Naples. Adorned with colourful frescoes and mosaics, the villas of Herculaneum boast opulence and style.
Sights of interest include the House of the Mosaic Atrium, the House of Neptune and Amphitrite, and the House of the Deer. Also included in the itinerary, are visits to the Decumanus, the Palestra, the Basilica, and the Thermal Baths of the Forum.
