After Hotels pick ups, we’ll make our way through Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon (except on Sundays). The lagoon is connected to the Atlantic Ocean, allowing sea water to enter by a canal along the edge of a park locally known as Jardim de Alah.

There you’ll drive by Flamengo’s headquarters and hear a little bit about the 4 most famous soccer clubs in the Rio and the rivalries involving Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense and Vasco da Gama!

Once the biggest stadium in the world, the stadium was used extensively during the World Cups and recent Olympics and its often used for local games and concerts

The 20 minute ride up will give you a chance to thoroughly appreciate the Tijuca Forest, which is considered to be the largest urban forest in the whole world. It represents 7% of the whole city`s territory! It’s breath taking and that alone already makes the trip well worth it.

Once up, the views and the imposing statue will take your mind off the walk up! Looking up you will feel blessed and protected by this beautiful monument of Christ with open arms, now one of the new Seven Wonders of the World! The actual tour was just over an hour and was brilliant but nearly 5 hours in the bus which was late in arriving, would have been quicker and probably cheaper just getting a taxi to and from the hotel!

A large group tour but with a fluent, knowledgeable multilingual guide. Unfortunately I didn't realize it's better to take the morning tour, esp if you want ideal pix of the statue behind. It's very crowded up top and the sun angle limits your photos.
