After morning pickup, your guide kicks off your half-day tour of historical Rio de Janeiro at St Benedict Monastery (Mosteiro de São Bento), founded in 1590, located on a hilltop. Take in the city views and then head inside the gilded nave.
Continue to the Church of Our Lady of Candelária, with baroque, neoclassical, and neo-Renaissance architectural influence. Learn about its construction that took over 100 years, as well as its modern-day tragedies.
In the main historical square of Praça XV, ogle at the Imperial Palace (Paço Imperial), built in 1743, the former home of Prince Dom João VI. Next door, admire the Greek columns of Palácio Tiradentes.
