Interesting insight in the life in the Rocinha favela. Definitely worth seeing, if only to understand a little the many faces of the Brazilian society. The two local guides who accompanied us were knowledgeable, approachable and eager to dispel some of the favela myths! The only downside to this experience was the size of the group: 19 people were a logistic nightmare!

During our trip to Rio de Janeiro, we did several tours, and the Rocinha Favela Walking Tour was the best. Our tour guide, Carlos made everyone feel comfortable in what could have been an uncomfortable situation. Carlos is knowledgeable and gives you insight into what he calls "two Brazils." Don't miss this tour.

Such an amazing experience, Carlos our guide is from the favela and gave us such a good insight into the history and every day life of the favela, taking us down the narrow back alleys and seeing parts of it which you would never see/find with out his guidance. Thought of a walking tour through a favela night out people off as they may think it’s in safe and dangerous but please don’t let this put you off. The experience is absolutely amazing and not at any point did we feel unsafe. Carlos seemed to know everyone and really made this tour. His English and other 4 languages were superb and he really engaged with the group and was very entertaining. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rio and it really does show the real side of the city.

Our guide was very informative and never did we feel unsafe. The tour was quick paced and not enough time for pictures.

When traveling I like to experience how people live and experience their cultures and daily habits. Alberto our tour guide through the favela was informative, honest and surprisingly very funny. There is nothing humorous about the conditions in Rocinha but Alberto spoke from the heart as not only a tour guide but also as a 50 year resident himself. The tour was an eye opening experience that I will carry with me always. I met some wonderful people and children who were very welcoming to us. Thank you Alberto and the residents of Rocinha!

First of all Carlos and his "back of the line" helper do an excellent job making sure everyone in the group was safe. Not saying anything about the environment in the Favela, however, the rality of the lack of resources for those living there reminds me places I've visited in India. This a must see if one is really interested in knowing the reality of the comminity in Rio.

The guide was very kind and professional. Considering the safety of travelers, food and beverage recommendations were all excellent. I felt a genuine affection for his life in Pavela. It was the most meaningful tour in my life. I am deeply grateful to the guide who inspired me deeply.

We knew it would be great, we didn't expect it to be as amazing as it was. Highly highly recommended! Best thing we did in Rio.

This was an eye opening tour that exceeded our expectations. Alberto, was not only our guide but also a local resident who showed us the entire neighborhood from an insiders perspective. He was funny and professional and shared the history of the favelas in great detail. This tour was definitely money and time well spent in Rio. I highly recommend this tour.

This was incredibly eye opening, and a true cultural experience. Our guide, Carlos, was actually from Rocinha, so hearing his perspective very honest, it seemed, was amazing. If you have trouble with uneven surfaces, potentially consider not doing this. There is a lot of narrow path walking, with uneven stairs, through the interior apartments of the Favela. An unimaginably cool experience, but can be a little disorienting if you struggle with stairs. There were also a couple of snacks along the way for purchase pastels and drinks, so make sure you have small bills, so you can eat all of the delicious food.

The guide was very knowledgeable , it was a good tour plenty walking uphill as well . Personally I don't care too much for the dirty unkempt areas but it is what it is .
