About this activity
Recreational diving, the most wanted, is safe. It covers non-decompression diving - with possibility of immediate return to the surface without sequel or risk to the organism - and is limited to 10 meters of depth. Duration varies with cylinder capacity, depth and diver air consumption. On average, a traditional cylinder allows you to stay between 35 and 50 minutes in diving.

It was the French Jacques-Yves Costeau who developed, together with an engineer, the autonomous breathing apparatus that has a high pressure valve. In 1.679, the first dive was done with comfortable underwater clothing.

To this day, various modifications have been made to equipment and clothing to give divers more comfort and safety.

  • An Italian priest was the first man to dive safely and comfortably in 1.679, when he created a kind of underwater clothing. But it was only in 1.943 that Frenchman Jacques-Yves Cousteau, together with engineer Emile Gagnham, developed a self-contained breathing apparatus, with a high-pressure valve, that enabled the diver to balance high pressures on the seabed.
  • From the 1940s until today, various modifications and refinements have been made, both in clothing and in diving equipment, giving current divers much more comfort and safety.
  • It is worth mentioning that there are three dive types: free, autonomous and the dependent or semi-autonomous. Free diving or apnea is the mode in which the diver does not use equipment for underwater breathing. In scuba diving, he is aided by equipment that carries with him, that allow him to breathe underwater. In dependent diving, the air supply is not carried by the diver itself; the air feed is made from the surface.
