2 in 1 Colosseum Over the Underground: Top Tiers & Arena Floor Tour

About this activity
Forget the worry and the waiting of the Colosseum main entrance fiasco where tour groups and tourists must wait in several lines even WITH "skip-the-line" Colosseum tickets. Our point of entry is at another side of the Colosseum where far less people gather and waiting times are less. Of course the Gladiator's Entrance is by far the most impressive way to enter the Colosseum and as soon as you're in, the Colosseum Arena Floor is yours!
Tread in the same steps as those who were victors and those who were victims during the peak period of Imperial Rome, when military might brought thousands of captives and wild animals to the city. Many captives entered servitude, many others fought and died in the Colosseum, often forced to fight each other, or worse, bears, lions, and packs of wild dogs.
At this point you are just a few metres above the Colosseum Underground. You will be able to look down and see precisely how men and beasts were prepared for battle and then hoisted up to where you are standing. This was last exit for many.
Your expert guide will then walk you around the main areas of the arena, a classic tour about how and why the Colosseum was such an important, magnificent structure which has become iconic in our modern age. A second tour follows from the top tiers of the Colosseum, known as "Belvedere". This has become a somewhat exclusive experience as it delivers panoramic views across entire ancient Rome as well as incredible views back down into the bowels of the Colosseum itself.
The Roman Forum is where the really interesting stories emerge, and your guide will explain every building, both ruined and intact, with a focus on Christianized temples, to give a clear understanding about the history of ancient Rome.
At the culmination of your time in the Roman Forum archaeological area, you will be free to explore the legendary Palatine Hill, which overlooks much of the ancient city. Here lie many jewels, so take your time and enjoy hidden temples, historic bird gardens, and ancient Roman homes dating back to the reign of Emperor Nero.
