Itinerary

Day 1: From Rome to Turin

Stop At: Turin, Piazza Castello, 15, 10124 Torino TO, Italy
Your 3-day experience starts when you leave central Rome on a high-speed train to Turin. Your tour includes round-trip high-speed train tickets to shuttle you to the heart of this charming city in a short time.
Upon arrival in Turin, it’s suggested that you check-in at your hotel and leave your luggage there before heading out to explore. From here on in, how you spend your time in the city is down to you. You’re free to explore, relax, and enjoy its attractions at your own pace.
Often referred to as the ‘Capital of the Alps,’ the city is steeped in history and known for its beautiful squares, palaces, museums, opera houses, gardens, monuments, and theaters. It’s also known for its glorious Renaissance, baroque, and rococo architecture, and plays host to some of Italy's best universities, academies, colleges, and research centers including the 6th-century University of Turin and Turin Polytechnic, reinforcing its already rich cultural heritage.
When you step out into the streets, you may detect a hint of Paris or Vienna in the elegant, tree-lined boulevards and art nouveau cafes, but make no mistake – this Alp-fringed city has a life of its own.

Day 2: Turin

Stop At: Turin, Piazza Castello, 15, 10124 Torino TO, Italy
The city houses the object of one of the world’s greatest mysteries—the Turin Shroud — and it’s here that the first saleable solid chocolate was made. The best-selling Fiat car was first created in the city, and Turin is also home to one of the planet’s most famous football teams, the black-and-white-stripe shirted Juventus.
Places of interest include the Mole Antonelliana, regarded as the real symbol of the city. Named after Alessandro Antonelli, the architect who built it between 1863 and 1889, this distinctive tower blends neoclassical and baroque architectural styles.
Another must-see is the Porte Palatine (Palatine Doors). The 1st-century Roman gateway towers date from when the city was known as Augusta Taurinorum, and are part of the fortress they take their name from, the Palatium.
You may also want to visit the Basilica of Superga, a magnificent baroque church that sits on the Hill of Superga, a panoramic viewpoint over the city. The church was built by Duke Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy to fulfill a vow made to the Virgin Mary to build her a church if he won the Battle of Turin in 1706.
Other sights include the Palazzo Madama in the center of the Piazza Castello. This fabulous residence is now a museum whose exhibits tell Turin’s story through the millennia. Take a journey back through time at its three important sections: the towers of the Roman Porta Pretoria, the Castle of Ludovico d'Acaja, and its spectacular frontage with its monumental atrium and staircase.
