Day 1: Depart from Rome - Visit Pompeii the archeological site - Drive the coast and arrive to Sorrento
Stop At: Pompeii - Archaeological Area., Porta Marina Superiore (Via Villa dei Misteri) Piazza Immacolata, Piazza Porta Marina inf., 80045 Pompeii Italy
Meet your tour leader at 9:00am and start your adventure by private bus/minivan towards the South of Italy. Mingle with the other like minded travelers and start getting excited about the sites, the delicious food and wonderful landscape which will be part of the 4 day Amalfi coast tour.
After a 2h30 ride we will reach our first stop Pompeii, destroyed and buried under 4 to 6m of ashes and pumice in the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 but still preserved throughout all these centuries. During the journey your IOAT tour leader will provide you with the info about the area, the site, the Romans and how they used to live and finally facts about the culture that only a local guide would know. In Pompeii you will have two hours of free time to explore the ruins at your own peace and refresh with some lemon granita or wood fired pizza at the end before continuing the trip towards Sorrento.
Check in at the campsite, rest some time, check out the facilities and jump into the sea from the private beach before you meet back with your guide to head down to Sorrento for an orientation walk around the town center pointing out the local products and the best places to eat.
In the evening you will have the choice to spend time on your own or join us to a local restaurant for an optional delicious 4 course dinner and to a club later on for some drinks.

Day 2: BOAT TOUR TO CAPRI ISLAND
Stop At: Capri, Via Torrione, 36, 84100 Salerno SA, Italy
What a perfect way to start the day with a boat trip to Capri island. Our boat tour will depart from the campsite in the morning. During our trip to Capri you will be enchanted by the magnificent bay of Sorrento, the beautiful coast line and the blue Gulf of Naples.
In Capri you will have time to discover the island in complete freedom by public bus; visit Anacapri, where you can take the chairlift up to the top of Mt. Solaro for a breathtaking 360 degree view of the island, visit the Blue Grotto with fantastic crystal blue colours, explore Capri town and finally relax on the beach. You can also book with your Italy on a Budget guide our private shuttle bus to tour the island in the most comfortable and easy way.
We will board the boat again in the afternoon to return to the camping village but not before touring around the island of Capri to admire the Grotta Verde (Green Grotto), Punta Carena, (the furthest point of the island) and all the amazing natural beauties. Back to the camping village in the late afternoon.
In the evening you will have the choice to spend time on your own or join your guide at the restaurant of the campsite for some drinks and an optional dinner for an easy and relaxing night.

Day 3: DAY TOUR TO AMALFI COAST - AMALFI AND POSITANO
Stop At: Amalfi Coast, 84011 Italy
Our third day is all for the Amalfi coast and its wonders. The panorama from the narrow and windy road of the Amalfi coast will be terrific. During the journey to Amalfi , we will pass by the Islands of Galli, the fishing villages of Furore and Praiano, famous for its crystal-clear seas, the encompassing views and its cathedral located 365m above the sea level.
We will stop in the town of Amalfi for about 2h to allow you to discover the town at your own peace and its famous cathedral, lie down at the beach and have a bite on one of the typical shop selling fresh local food.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Positano Italy, Via Positano, 80069 Moiano NA, Italy
We will board again after lunch for the splendid town of Positano with its cascade of colourful houses, clinging magically to earth. Its pastel buildings form a vertical wonderland. Narrow, threadlike streets provide boutiques, cafes, restaurants and bars. In Positano we will stay 3h to allow you to relax on the beach, go for a swim and discover this little gem of the Amalfi coast. We will return back our campsite at approx 6:00 pm.
Our last evening in Sorrento you have the choice to spend time on your own or join your guide at a restaurant in Sorrento for the best pizza of the Amalfi coast and later for some drinks.

Day 4: SORRENTO TO ROME – TOUR OF NAPLES
Stop At: Underground Naples, Piazza San Gaetano 68, 80138, Naples Italy
It’s time to say goodbye to the wonderful Amalfi coast to return back to Rome. Our first stop will be Naples. You can’t leave the South of Italy without taking at least a small peek at Naples, home of the Italian pizza and Italian customs. We will stop 4h in one of the areas of Naples famous for its shopping and monuments. Your guide will take you for an orientation walk and will show you the places of interests; San Carlo theatre, Plebiscito square, Umberto I 's gallery and where to get the most delicious hezelnut coffee. You will be than free to walk around the city with our handy Italy on a Budget maps and stop for lunch in a traditional pizzeria to finally taste the best Neapolitan pizza! We will depart from Naples right after lunch to return to Rome by 5:00pm or continue your adventure on our 7 day Discovery Sicily by taking the ferry from Naples.

Tour was great. I had a wonderful time. Our tour guide, Alfonso, was very knowledgeable but I think he could have been a little more professional at times. I would recommend this tour!

Ben was our guide for the Amalfi coast tour. We met him at the origination spot and he was very friendly from the beginning. During the tour he was accommodating, enthusiastic, and fun. Ben assured us that traveling with our 2 large suitcases would be fine for the bus and cabin as my daughter and I were traveling for 2 weeks and had no other options. The bus ride was comfortable and the cabin at Santa Fortunata campsite was very clean and quiet. The staff at Santa Fortunata were very friendly and accommodating. We did not have breakfast there as per the original itinerary which I did not notice until the last day. The schedule was very good and covered many interesting places and sites. Our group was disappointed that the tide was too high to visit the blue grotto. Ben attempted to find other excursions for some group members when we visited Capri and Amalfi but was unsuccessful because of unavailability. The weather was gorgeous and the towns were very busy! One suggestion I would make would have the tour guide provide information about the areas that are traveled through on the bus rides. There was an opportunity to do this as there was a lot of quiet time on the bus and people were interested in knowing about the area.
