BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS ON THE COLOSSEUM ARENA
2 h
About this activity
You will begin the evening at the meeting place on Via del Colosseo nr. 24 at 08:00 PM. Here, you will be given time to take some beautiful wide angle, panoramic photos of the Colosseum while enjoying a light aperitivo and an engaging introduction by your guide. From there you will be escorted to the Colosseum arena where you may take your seat in preparation for the show to begin!
As you walk inside the Colosseum, you will begin to feel the magnitude of where you are. Through a series of multimedia imagery, virtual reconstruction and holographic projection, spectators are transported back in time to the golden age of Ancient Rome. Prepare to be mesmerized as you experience the sights and sounds as chronicled by those who actually lived it, including Emperor Titus to whom we owe the Colosseum’s completion, as well as the Roman poet Martial, whose writings offer the most comprehensive account of the opening games. Under ancient arches and celestial stars, the historical realism and spectacular audiovisual production of “Blood and Sand” will entice the modern senses like no other.
Learn about the types of games and ferocious battles that the Romans enjoyed the most. See where the emperor would be perched, high above the arena floor, ready to decide the fate of another gladiator as he stood before a roaring Roman crowd.
Total tour time is approximately 2 hours
