About this activity
Discover Rome's most beautiful and famous monuments on a full-day shore excursion from Civitavecchia cruise port.

Enjoy the comfort of a private driver transportation with pick up and drop off inside the port, just in front of your cruise ship. Then relax for 1 hour until we reach the city center of Rome and start discovering this ancient and enchanting city. Discover places that only locals know.

Get skip-the line access to the Vatican Museum, Colosseum and Roman Forum and discover in just 1 day the main attractions of the city.

The first stop is at the Vatican Museums: visit on your own the main rooms of this world-famous Museum and admire the beauty of the Sistine Chapel. Then reach your driver to discover the main squares of Rome, like the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.

After lunch, head to the Colosseum and Roman Forum and explore on your own the ancient history of these monuments.

Board your transport at 3pm to be back in Civitavecchia by approximately 4:30pm.

I hosted a group of 20 people on this tour and it was a great experience. Everyone was impressed with the skip-the-line access..."I felt like a VIP going past all those people in that long line!" is what many of my travelers expressed. I definitely recommend and will certainly use Viator for their prompt and professional service.

Our driver, Massamilliano was great. took us everywhere we needed to go. Was very timely in picking us up. I think we saw way more than what the people on the cruise tours saw.

This tour was absolutely breathing taking!!! HUGE thank you to our driver Paolo who wasn't just a driver he was like a mini tour guide! This tour was amazing from the time Paolo picked us up to the time we left he was professional, courteous, kind and was a pleasure to be around. We even sang italian songs together and joked around with Paolo theought the ride.He took us to see many things in rome in the short amount of time we had! It was worth every penny we spent!! Paolo even asked for a picture with us at the end of the tour!!! What an amazing day spent with an amazing guy!! Grazie Paolo! From the Italians of Canada The D'Amato family

Did the skip line tours but the word "including" is misleading. The driver only wanted to take us to the skip the line places not all of Rome. He was a safe driver. He communicated he would only take us to places where we had tickets. According Thisto reviews, and our experience, every driver doesn't honor all of Rome. This was our 2nd trip into Rome from port, we saved time and maximized the Vatican and the Coleseum. St. Peter's Basilica line was very long but free to enter. However, the tour instructions should be more detailed with meetup times and locations in between places. Time passed by as we waited for the driver to show up at the indicated pick up point. He was waiting for us to call him internationally; if patrons should use WhatsApp, they should say that before tour date because our calls did not go through in Rome when trying to contact the driver.

Paolo was an amazing driver/host. He was literally prepared for any situation with umbrellas, wifi, candy, and wipes! We were on a cruise and this trip was half the price of the cruise line with our own private driver. Great day and great experience! Will definitely use again!

On all of our cruise stops I was looking forward to this shore excursion the most. The reviews looked great but of course you are always nervous on what to expect. Our driver was outstanding and was there to meet us as we got off the ship. It was a whirlwind day and we were zipping from one stop to another but were able to see all the main attractions - Vatican museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peters Square and Basilica, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and a couple other quick stops. We ate at a wonderful restaurant by the Spanish steps. It was a whirlwind of a day and our driver told us that we got lucky with traffic but regardless, it was amazing! Fabrizio, our driver spoke perfect english and was great at meeting us at pre-determined times as promised. The van was spacious, clean and cool....a five start experience across the board. We have tons of pictures and will talk about it for years I am sure. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION...:)

We had a private driver who knew Rime quite well. We purchased tickets to the Vatican Museum and Collusium in advance which helped us skip the lines. Our visits to certain areas was short, but that was the only way we could see and make all the stops we wanted to see most of Rome. Our driver recommended a great Authentic Italian restaurant with homemade pasta on the menu. It was a great day!

It was awesome to have your own transportation. But, I paid approximately 800 dollars, and it truly was pick you up, drop you off, give you tickets, and then you go off on your own. He did tell us a few things, and our driver was nice, but just was nothing more than a cab driver. I think we could have saved quite a bit of money buying the tickets on our own. It wasn't worth the money we paid for this excursion. The Colosseum was amazing and the skip the line was well worth it. Our teenage boys did not like visiting the Vatican. The museum was extremely long, and it was so hot and packed with people. It was like being in a cattle drive with no way out. It was great visiting the Sistine Chapel, but it is at the very end. I think the boys would have been great just seeing the colosseum.

Our private driver was Giulio. He was a good driver and he was very professional his beautiful Jaguar was spotless. Giulio drove us to the most well-known sites where we had skip the line access to the magnificent Vaticano including the Sistine Chapel and Museums and inside tour of the Colosseo. We also saw Foro Romano and Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps under repair at the time. Giulio took us to Campo de' Fiori where we enjoyed the outdoor market and a delicious lunch. We fit in so much in a full day but we didn't feel rushed in any way. It was a great introduction of Rome for us. Our next visit will be for more than one day!

The guide was great the Vatican inside for the Sistine Chapel was too crowded for our taste packed in like sardines.
