Cocullo SNAKES FESTIVAL Exclusive only every May 1st Fullday from Rome

Early in the morning your professional English-speaking driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Rome with a private minivan. From there you’ll drive to
Cocullo town, that you’ll reach in less than 2 hours.
Once in town you’ll be able to spend the day on your own, enjoying the festivity. The
Snake Festival, in Italian
“Festa dei Serpari”, is held every year on May 1st.
During the days previous to the date, the people of
Cocullo catch as many wild snakes as possible in preparation to the festival.
During this day of holiday, the statue of the saint patron of the town (San Domenico) is taken on a procession along the streets. During the entire time the statue is covered in as many snakes it can hold.
Tourists coming from all over the world can take part in the procession, and people are also allowed to touch and pet the snakes.
At the end of the holiday, local snake breeders will set the snakes free again in the wild where they belong.
This might be a once in a lifetime experience, that you have the possibility to live just once a year. So if you’ll be in Italy on May one, this is a highly recommended tour!

At the end of the tour, sit back, relax and enjoy your 2 hour drive back to your hotel in Rome.
The duration of your tour is about 10 hours and you can expect to be back at your hotel around 5:30pm, depending on local traffic.
