About this activity
Start your day with a pickup from your central Rome hotel, or alternatively, hop aboard your coach in the center of town, near Rome Termini Station. Leave Rome and travel north to the picture-perfect region of Tuscany, passing through the green valley surrounding Tevere River and hills blanketed with olive groves and vineyards. Your destination of the day is beautiful Florence – the region’s equally charming capital.

First stop in the city is the world-famous Accademia Gallery (Gallerie dell'Accademia ), home to Michelangelo’s original David sculpture, which, of course, you will see on your tour! Head inside to see the Accademia’s highlights with your expert guide, learning about Michelangelo’s unfinished Quattro Prigioni – a sculpture of prisoners trying to free themselves from the marble in which they are carved – and see Botticelli’s Madonna and Child among other noteworthy works.

Leave the museum and set off on your walking tour to see top city attractions like Florence Duomo (Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore). Admire the cathedral’s distinctive orange dome, designed by Renaissance supremo Fillipo Brunelleschi, and then admire Giotto’s Bell Tower – another Renaissance masterpiece.

Stop near Piazza della Signoria to enjoy lunch in a typical Florentine restaurant, and then continue your walking tour to the Basilica of Santa Croce to see where Michelangelo is buried. Finally, visit one of Florence’s famous leather-making schools, where you’ll also learn about other ancient Tuscan crafts such as gold metal work and mosaic making.

Return to your coach with your guide and return to Rome, finishing your tour back at your hotel. Alternatively, you can finish your tour with a drop off at Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia or Piazza della Repubblica; simply let your guide know on the day.

Don't miss Florence!!!! Be advised tho that the bus trip is 3 hours there and 3 hours back. Tour guide was great and lunch delicious. True about the drop off, you may be dropped off at the Metro so be sure you know how to get home from there.

Green Line Tour booked thru Viator 1 Guide Marina, barely spoke English and even though we had no French speakers on the tour she insisted on giving all talks in English, Spanish and French 2 Rome to Florence driver Luca, paid way to much attention to his phone and Ecig while driving 3 Florence guide was excellent and answered our many questions graciously 4 We spent 45-60 min in a gold and leather shop. That time would have been much better spent in the museum 5 No maps provided so that we could use free time wisely 6 Return driver kindly gave us directions back to our hotel, which the guide would not. My criticism's are aimed at this particular Green Line tour, not Florence. Florence was amazing, as was our local guide. It has been a life long wish to see the statue of David, and it exceeded my expectations

Florence is a beautiful city and your tour guides were so informative, making us feel as though we lived there. We are so glad that we chose this tour on our stay in Italy !! A

The tour agency picked us up from our hotel very early 6.30 AM and we didn't get a chance to eat breakfast and while the tour bus was extremely clean, their policy didn't allow us to eat anything on their bus while in transit from Rome to Florence. While I understand that this reduces the need to clean the bus regularly, it was a big inconvenience since we were starving between 6.30 and 11 AM when we finally arrived in Florence, got off the bus and had a chance to eat.
