About this activity
Meet your guide near the Vatican Museums, purchase your entrance ticket inside our office (at your own expense) and head straight inside to begin your Vatican night tour without the hectic daytime crowds. Follow your guide through the Vatican's mesmerizing museum complex, comprising nearly 2,000 different rooms. Even if you had a whole day here, seeing it all would be impossible, so your expert guide will take the pressure off by showing you the must-see rooms and artwork!

As you explore this exciting labyrinth of galleries and apartments, see Egyptian relics and Etruscan artifacts alongside incredible Renaissance art by legendary Italian painters Raphael and Michelangelo. Highlights of your tour include the Gallery of Maps, home to 40 map frescoes that date back to 1580, and Raphael's Rooms, four interconnecting chambers adorned with paintings by Raphael and his pupils.

Finally, you’ll make it to the room you’ve been waiting for – the beautiful Sistine Chapel. After your guide explains the significance of this sacred Vatican site, you'll have roughly 15 minutes to walk around inside and gaze in awe. See Michelangelo's famous ceiling fresco, The Creation of Adam, as well as The Last Judgment, a colorful fresco that dominates one of the chapel walls.

Your tour finishes outside the Sistine Chapel, and while entry isn't permitted to St Peter's Basilica in the evening, you can spend as much time as you want in beautiful St Peters Square, where you can take nighttime Vatican photos without the usual daytime crowds!

Evening Vatican tours sell out fast, and only twenty Friday nights are available between April to October.

The guide spoke broken English and was almost impossible to understand over the earphones. It may have been a good tour if we heard it. Also, they could have put a map to the gathering spot on the voucher. We assumed it was right by the entrance to the museum but it was down the street, which is hard to locate if not familiar with the area and difficult to ask for directions in a foreign country. Very, very crowded and the guide spoke during the music playing so you miss that part of the tour completely.

Our tour guide, Francesco was amazing! He went above and beyond to answer all questions! He is the only reason I have this tour more than a star! The company will charge you EXTRA 24 Euros/ person when you arrive at the location! They don’t take credit cards and they gave a very weird explanation to why they charge people extra! A lady in front of me didn’t have cash and the lady at the reception desk told her to give her whatever cash she has on her.

Italian taxi driver angry and upset that he was unable to find the tour meeting place that Viator provided. I noticed that many other people have commented on the website about this too. Viator needs to give a detailed map with the directions to make it easier or change the meeting place. Not happy about losing out on the experience and my money too.

The way this tour is worded is that the Vatican museum is an optional cost. It is not optional. And when you arrive at departure poiny you pay an extra €25 pp. You cannot see the Chapel without going miles thru the museum. Its not an option. The grounds of the museum are lovely. But 3hrs of tapesties and paintings when all you want is the Chapel its way too expensive. And boring unless you are a painting history buff. We were exhausted by the end with people pulling ouf mid tour. The Vatican have designed this tour for maximum exposure to souvenires . Much has changed sice i saw the Chapel in 1995. Sad.Lots of walking. Not suitable for walking impaired, children, babies or strollers

A visit to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel is not to be missed! Plan on at least four hours and lots of stairs. We were exhausted by the end of the tour but we're glad we did it.

An "optional" fee for the Museum was not optional. Guide was good, but a talker. Would not recommend.

I liked having less people around but we spent a lot of time waiting for the slower members in our group to catch up. If you book this tour, remember 3 hours is a long time to be walking around listening to someone talk.

We were so excited about this tour but left disappointed. The instructions for locating the tour office were awful, and once we checked in, our "small group" tour had 31 participants! We had only one voucher to share with another large tour group so had to wait for 60+ people to go to the restroom, buy water, etc. before we even entered the Vatican Museum proper. Then we had to stand outside in the courtyard for over 30 minutes with our guide trying to talk over the very loud musicians playing behind us. He spent way too long talking about details of the Sistine Chapel on the small, unlit signs in the courtyard and half of us couldn't even see the signs! Bottom line, our 7:30 tour didn't even enter the actual museum until 9 pm!!! And our tour was supposed to end by 10 pm! Because we wasted 1.5 hours outside, he raced us through the museum in 45 minutes which left 15 minutes for us to spend in the Sistine Chapel. We will never book with this tour company again, period.
