About this activity
Pick up at your hotel in Rome and after one hour we reach the city of Anzio, the landing beach for the Allies Troops in January 1944..
After a short visit to the landing beach we move to the American Cemetery of Nettuno (the largest in Italy) that contains the graves of 7900 soldiers dead and nearly 3100 names on the walls of the missing. The majority of them died during the heavy battles for the South Italy Campagne which started in July 1943 with liberation of Sicily, September 1943 the landing in Salerno that ended with liberation of Rome in April 1944.
From the Cemetery in less then two hours we reach the German difensive line called "The Gustav Line" on which stands the famous Benedictine Abbey of Monte Cassino. This Abbey original built in the 450AC was totally destroyed by the allied bombing in February 1944.
Totally rebuilt after the war is today one of the most important Benedictine Abbey in Europa. The visit of the Abby is with an official guide.
After the Abbey, the museum and lunch we continue to your hotel on the Amalfi coast
