About this activity
Your English speaking tour/driver will welcome you at your hotel or any other place of your convenience at 8.30am (suggested time) and let’s start Rome’s full day tour with a visit to Piazza Venezia, that today dates back to the late 19th century. It is dominated by a huge monument in honor of Vittorio Emanuele II, also known by the disrespectful name of “the wedding cake”. Just 10 minutes from here, are Capitol Hill and Roman Forum panoramas. Right in time to lead you through the next part of the tour and take your breath away, is the enchanting view of the Roman Forum, the religious, political and commercial hub of ancient Rome. Within a few minutes of walking from here, you will be completely absorbed into the magnificent Piazza Del Campidoglio, commissioned by Pope Paul III. It was designed and partly laid out by Michelangelo from 1536 onwards, for the visit of the emperor Charles V.

Not very far away from here, there is the Jewish ghetto where you can explore the interesting history of the Jewish community in Rome. Confined inside a high wall enclosure, people were obliged to live in it and forced to wear a distinctive symbol on their clothes identifying them as Jews by the church during Pope Paul II’s authority. After many stops, you will finally arrive at Piazza Navona, the most extravagant of Rome’s Square, adorned with the fountain of The Four Rivers by Bernini, and the church of his rival, Borromini.

During Rome full day tours, the guide/driver will take you to Piazza Della Rotonda, where you can see the Pantheon, the best preserved and enchanting monument of ancient times. This architectural masterpiece was an excellent test of the abilities of architects in ancient Rome. From the top of the Aventine Hill, Rome’s view is breathtaking. The Circus Maximus is where there were very bloody chariot races at the time of imperial Rome, as we can see in one of the classic American movies, Ben Hur. The Coliseum, known also as the “Flavian Amphitheatre,” could contain 50,000 spectators to watch fights between beast and men, gladiatorial contests, races, and naval battles.

Next, you will have lunch time in a typical Italian restaurant on the Appian Way, the principal road of the Roman soldiers. You can enjoy specialties of the Roman cuisine far away from the tourist-beaten locations. The next stop your tour/driver will take you to is the Catacombs. Catacombs were expanded enormously in canicula carved out for kilometers during the development of Christianity in Rome.

The tour program as listed above includes simply suggested itineraries and sights, and can easily be further customized in order to suit your schedule, all your specific interests and needs.
