Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Palatine Hill, Piazza Santa Maria Nova, 53, 00186 Rome Italy

You’ll head into the Roman Forum and the Palatine hill to learn the the wider history of Imperial Rome. Through the stories and anecdotes of your expert guide, the ruins will come to life and you’ll have no problem imagining the heyday of this incredible civilization.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Colosseum, Piazza del Colosseo, 00184 Rome Italy

Step off the tourist track in the Colosseum and get a gladiator’s-eye-view by using their special entrance and stepping onto the normally off-limits arena floor. You can’t get closer to the action than this.

The arena floor is where people actually fought and died in the Colosseum. While most visitors only ever see it from the stands, you’ll bypass long, general entrance lines and step directly onto it via the special Gladiator’s Gate. As you marvel at the great amphitheater around you, your expert guide will tell stories to transport back nearly 2,000 years, when vicious blood sports were the most popular form of entertainment in Rome.

During your tour you’ll also explore the rest of the Colosseum, including the first floor and Roman Forum overlook.

What can I say, the highlight of our trip to Venice and Rome. The Colleseum and Forum tour left me wanting to get home and find out more...and watch Gladiator again! Our tour guide, Mario, was everything you hope for when you book this sort of tour. I'm sure I would have loved it no matter who our guide was, but Mario helped make the vist that much more special. He was knowledgeable, friendly and inclusive to all age groups on the tour and above all very, very funny. His experience helped us to dodge and dive round the larger and slower groups to ensure we always had a great view and saw the key things. Would I visit Rome again? Probably, but it would be on the guaratee of repeating this tour with Mario as our guide.

We both loved this tour. It was great to walk through history. Our tour guide was very informative and kept the tour extremely interesting. It was awesome to be inside the Colosseum and feel what it must of been like 2000 years ago. The ruins and the forum were just as awesome. There is some walking and climbing on this tour but very much worth it. We highly recommend it.

We booked this tour as you get to go on the floor level of the Colosseum, not just the 1st floor like everyone else. Our guide Martina was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Entering this amazing, ancient building through the Gladiator’s Gate and looking up around you was awe-inspiring. You get about 10 min on the floor and then are taken to the 1st level. Martina ensured that everyone had time to take pictures. We then went to the Roman forum after which was cool as well. Highly recommended!

Maria Teresa gave us an amazing tour! She was informative yet kept it fun and entertaining telling us about the history of Rome and the colosseum and telling us stories about the gladiators. She allowed time for photos at the very beginning when we first entered the colosseum offering to take them so that we would have an amazing reminder of our day! She was more than happy to answer any questions and kept the tour going at the pace we wanted. She allowed time for a toilet/refreshment break which given the 3 hour tour and heat was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend this tour - it was the highlight of my holiday.

Our tour guide was lively and full of information. I wish she would have been my high school teacher as she peaked interest and brought the Colosseum to life. The tour felt a little long only because it was sooo incredibly hot. Guide was knowledgeable. Bring a hat along and a water bottle. You will need it. Folks are also selling them at the meeting point for the trip in case you forget.

Our guide, Anna, was amazing! She was easy to understand and very knowledgeable about Palatine Hill, the Forum, and Colosseum. Even though it was very hot, Anna made sure we were able to see everything we needed to with plenty of breaks. Glad we started with Palatine Hill because I don’t know how we would’ve finished with the most walking at the backend of the tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and were glad that we opted for the early morning start. It was a good idea to visit the Forum and Palatine Hill first, when nearly empty. Then entering the Colosseum through the Gladiator Gate was a fantastic experience. A truly memorable day. Our guide, Sarah, was very friendly, knowledgeable and kept the tour fun and interesting.

Our guide, Francesca, was superb!! She kept our group together, she provided a wealth of information, she was great with the children in the group, and she offered several times to take family photos in picturesque locales. We thoroughly enjoyed the Colosseum tour and the tour of the Forum.

We took the 4pm tour and our guide, Tiberious, was absolutely fabulous! His depth of knowledge was amazing. He was both humorous and conscientious about the needs of the group (stopping in shaded areas and for water/bathrooms). His English was well understood and clear. The only minor suggestion would be booking the earlier tour offering if you have someone who would want a souvenir. The gift shop inside the colosseum was already closed (15 minutes prior) to our tour ending.

The tour was very engaging and we learned so many interesting facts. Our guide was amazing and had pictures to help explain some of the different topics. She was great with our kids and made sure they could see her pictures. She even helped to keep track of my son when it got very crowded. My 9 year old was amazed by the history and loved every second!

The tour was fantastic with a mixtures if seeing all three main attractions around the area. The tour guide was excellent and by far one of the best we have ever experienced on a guide and is an asset to the company! She went by the name Big momma G.

Our guide was Esmeralda and she was terrific. We were only a group of 25 and entering through the gladiators gate was great. It would have been difficult to have gotten ourselves from site to site. Well worth the money . Would highly recommend.

This is an awesome tour. It started on time and was well organized. Our guide was very knowledgeable - she kept up the commentary for a solid 3 hours and I felt she could have gone on for another 3! It exceeded our expectations and I would recommend it. It was extremely hot but the guide tried to keep everyone in the shade whenever possible and also pointed out many spots to fill water bottles etc.

My husband and i took this tour during our stay in Rome. Our guide Bruno did such a wonderful job. He explained the everything from history, architecture, social classes, restoration and much more in a clear and concise manner. The gladiator entrance gate was interesting as well. We got to see the underground structure from the arena floor where all the action took place. A well worth tour!!!

This was a great overall tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Very comprehensive and almost too much information - Rome has much history to absorb. I highly recommend doing this tour.

The Colosseum tour was awesome, the history and site is breathtaking. When you see the lines to enter, totally worth the Skip the Line and Special Access, you will not regret. Pay the little extra and save yourself the time in line if your stay in Rome is short. The guides know their stuff, whatever you learn from the tour, you will get an appreciation of the Colosseum even more.

We thought this tour was for the Colosseum, but actually we were only there for an hour. The other 2 hours were spent touring Palatine Hill and the surrounding area. This was fine but could be explained before we booked this tour. Our tour guide was great though. She had a lot of knowledge about Rome and offered an excellent recommendation for lunch afterwards.

Well informed guide and worth the extra to take the Gladiator Gate version of the tour. Worth going early and having lunch in the cafe in the used for the meeting place (Opius I think it was). Excellent food and good service. Getting there via the Metro was straight forward. If you get to the station Terminee from any direction, Colosseum is just 3 stops away and you can transfer virtually anywhere from that station.

This tour is very worthwhile! Our tour guide was awesome, very knowledgeable and friendly. The group size is just right. We didn't wait in the long lines to get into the Colosseum, instead going through the Gladiator entrance which is quite stunning. Plenty to see, lots of great picture opportunities and well priced compared to other tours offering exclusive access. Highly recommend!
