La Dolce Vita: great Italian movie songs with ballet

Variable
About this activity

Hear the most famous compositions created for the movies by great Italian masters like Rota, Morricone and Piovani, in the unique atmosphere of the Caravita Church in Rome, between Fontana di Trevi and Pantheon. An all-encompassing show, featuring movie soundtracks, renown opera arias like Casta Diva, and charming pas-de-deux performed by high-level ballet dancers.

Dolce Vita, meaning Sweet Life, is really the perfect term to describe the fervor of the period comprised between the end of the 50's and the beginning of the 60's in Italy. Rome becomes the capital city of hedonism, expressed through exclusive parties, intellectual ferment, art and especially the cinema, not only thanks to Fellini but also by attracting American productions, owing to the reduced costs in comparison to Hollywood. The ghost of World War II has been dispelled, the economy is booming and men and women are bursting with desire for life. The general euphoria is well depicted in a scene from the movie La Dolce Vita by Fellini, in which the actress Anita Ekberg dives into the Trevi Fountain in a buzz of excitement, together with Marcello Mastroianni, who declares his love for her.

The concert program will bring you on a journey through an epoch in which any emotion can be experienced. Joy and desire for adventure are embodied by the protagonists of films that have made history.

You will be accompanied by the voices of:

Clementina Regina, soprano, graduated from the Conservatory of Naples, winner of the Third Prize at the XV International Music Award of the City of Caserta and the European Opera Day Scholarship 2014. She made her debut as the Aida at the Court Theatre of Naples in 2014. Since then, she has performed in different concert halls nationwide, and also before the Italian Parliament with the Orchestra Napoletana.

Emil Alekperov, tenor, graduated from the Conservatory of Baku, Azerbaijan, continued his studies at the Academy of Lyric Art in Osimo. He has been a member of the Italian Company of Operetta for ten years. Later, he has performed in a number of countries, including Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia and Ecuador.
