We had two different tour guides for the different places. The Colosseum tour guide started off great and then he just rambled and went off on tangents and didn’t tell us important points about the colosseum. There’s so much to learn and everyone felt underwhelmed. It lasted maybe 30-45 minutes and everyone was so confused when it ended because we had barely seen or learned anything. The rest of it was run by a tour guide named Harry white. He did a fantastic job and the only reason we are even giving this a 3 star. He made up for the first part by giving us some great insight and showing passion into what he does and what he taught us.
our guide was a wealth of knowledge about the colosseum without being boring. he maneuvered us through the crowds with ease and found spaces in the shade to talk to us about what we were seeing. his English was easy to understand and he managed the time well giving us intervals of free time to take pictures and linger at interesting spots. a separate guide gave us the tour of the forum and palatine hill. he was also very knowledgeable and presented the material in a fun way. i would highly recommend this tour as is was also reasonably priced
Guide was very knowledgeable and provided a great tour. Is a great way to avoid the long lines and get insight into the historic sites.
The Colosseum is an amazing place and our guide was very good. Even though you pay to skip the line if your party is less than 18 people apparently you go in the middle que...still had to wait an hour before getting in so be prepared! There is a lift inside to the top level if you are with anyone who is not so good with steps, I was with my mum who's mobility is not so good so after the hour stood in a que this was a relief. The Roman forum tour was not so good for someone not mobile, set off from the Colosseum up about 30 steps at speed....not good. Caught up but not for long so listened to the first talk which was good but then got left behind. Overall I still think it was worth booking first and Rome is just fantastic and like staying in an open air museum!
Our group of nine friends found this tour very interesting and informative. The guide was very good, I would recommend this tour, just looking at the colosseum, Roman forum and palatine hill gives you nothing, the tour is a must to understand the history of Rome!
Check-in time 10:35, leader did not arrive until 10:50; we were handed off to three people; did not enter Colosseum until 11:45; under 18s needed ID but we were not told this. Tour did not actually begin until nearly noon.
Our tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill was THE WORST tour experience we have ever experienced. The tour started an hour late, only to wait in line for another 30-45 minutes. Our tour guide for the colosseum spoke for maybe 20 minutes, collected our radios and took off.... leaving us to wait another hour and a half to two hours for the next tour of the Roman Forum. Very disorganized and bad experience all around. We wasted the majority of our day on the tour that should've been 3 hours; we were there from 11am-430pm. Unacceptable. I reported our experience 4 days ago and have yet to get a resolution.
The tour started off well. The two guides were very knowledgeable. But for both the Palatine and Coloseum tours we got great commentary but didn't tour that much of the sites. We did not tour the Forum at all. We looked down on it from above, but didn't tour or hear much about it. I was mostly looking forward to the Forum tour. We left disappointed.
Totally loved our guides. Tour was informative.
