Stop At: Colosseum, Rome, Lazio

Its real name is the Flavio Amphitheatre, but is more widely known as the Colosseum, because of the large bronze statue of Nerone which was placed in the second century AD . The exterior consists of four architectural orders superimposed. Even today, the Colosseum is the largest amphitheater in the world, used in ancient times as the place for fights between gladiators and hunting simulations involving of wild animals.

Stop At: Basilica Papale San Paolo fuori le Mura

The basilica was founded by the Roman Emperor Constantine I over the burial place of St. Paul, where it was said that, after the Apostle's execution, his followers erected a memorial, called a cella memoriae. This first basilica was consecrated by Pope Sylvester in 324. According to tradition, St. Paul's body was buried two miles away from the place of his martyrdom, in the sepulchral area along the Ostiense Way, which was owned by a Christian woman named Lucina. A tropaeum was erected on it and quickly became a place of veneration.

Stop At: Pantheon, Rome, Lazio

It was built by Emperor Hadrian to the worship of all the divinities. Its most distinctive characteristic famous is certainly the circular opening, large 9 meters, on the cupola that lets rain to fall on the ground without causing any trouble due to the presence of 22 manholes.

Stop At: Trevi Fountain, Rome, Lazio

The Trevi Fountain is the most famous fountain in the world and the largest Baroque fountain in the city. Standing 26.3 metres (86 ft) high and 49.15 metres (161.3 ft) wide. The fountain has appeared in several notable films, including Roman Holiday, Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita, the eponymous Three Coins in the Fountain, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, and Sabrina Goes to Rome
The legend holds that a coin thrown into the fountain will ensure a return to Rome.

Stop At: Spanish Steps, Rome, Lazio

The Spanish Steps (Italian: Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti) are a set of steps in Rome, Italy, climbing a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by the Trinità dei Monti church at the top. At the top, the stairway ramp up the Pincio which is the Pincian Hill. From the top of the steps the Villa Medici can be reached. In the Piazza di Spagna at the base is the Early Baroque fountain called Fontana della Barcaccia ("Fountain of the longboat")

Stop At: Piazza Navona, Rome, Lazio

Piazza Navona was the Stadium of Domitian and it still retains its shape so characteristic of remembers the origins. One can admire the Fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini and Borromini's Church. Piazza Navona has two fountains: the Fountain of the Moor and the fountain of Neptune. And then ... the excellent ice cream at Tre Scalini!

Stop At: St. Peter's Square (Piazza San Pietro), Vatican City, Lazio

St. Peter's Square is a large plaza located directly in front of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, the papal enclave inside Rome. Both the square and the basilica are named after Saint Peter, an apostle of Jesus considered by some to be the first Pope. At the centre of the square is an ancient Egyptian obelisk, erected at the current site in 1586. Gian Lorenzo Bernini designed the square almost 100 years later, including the massive Doric colonnades, four columns deep, which embrace visitors in "the maternal arms of Mother Church". A granite fountain constructed by Bernini in 1675 matches another fountain designed by Carlo Maderno in 1613
