Then, you will arrive at Trevi Fountain, built between 1732 and 1762. Fontana di Trevi is one of the biggest and more important fountains in Rome. Then, you will arrive in one of the biggest and most famous Roman squares: Piazza Navona. It is a huge square and its shape is similar to a stadium.

It is wonderful and houses many important buildings and fountain, such as the Sant’Agnese in Agone Church, the Moro Fountain, the Quattro Fiumi (Four Rivers) Fountain, and the Palazzo Pamphilj.

After having admired one of the most amazing squares of the eternal city, you will proceed to Circus Maximus: the huge ancient Roman stadium, originally used for horse-ricing. It is in the valley between the Aventine Hill and the Palatine Hill and it is 620 m (2037 ft) in length and 120 m (387 ft) in width. You will know it from Roman History because of the very famous Ratto delle Sabine (Rape of Sabine women), back in Romolo’s time, that took place in this stadium.

Then, you will approach Colle Aventino, the hill on which Rome was founded and where many other important facts of Roman history happened. On this hill there is the Priorato of Malta Villa, whose wall has a keyhole without a key: watch through it to admire St. Peter’s Dome in a very special way, framed by the greenery.

The Bocca della Verità (the Mouth of Truth) is an old manhole of 1632 with the form of marble mask, representing a bearded man. It is walled in the wall of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin and, according to the tradition, it is said that the Bocca della Verità eats the hand ones who lie. Your guide will tell you the history of this church and its Mouth of Truth: don’t forget to ask about the legend about the Unfaithful Wife.
