Stop At: Pompeii - Archaeological Area., Porta Marina Superiore (Via Villa dei Misteri) Piazza Immacolata, Piazza Porta Marina inf., 80045 Pompeii Italy

Pompeii was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Volcanic ash typically buried inhabitants who did not escape the lethal effects of the earthquake and eruption.

Duration: 2 hours

Pass By: Vesuvius National Park, Via Palazzo del Principe, 80044 Ottaviano Italy

Mount Vesuvius is a somma-stratovolcano located on the Gulf of Naples in Campania, Italy, about 9 km (5.6 mi) east of Naples and a short distance from the shore. It is one of several volcanoes which form the Campanian volcanic arc. Vesuvius consists of a large cone partially encircled by the steep rim of a summit caldera caused by the collapse of an earlier and originally much higher structure

Pass By: Castel dell'Ovo, Via Eldorado 3 L'accesso al castello è gratuito. L'orario indicato è quello estivo., 80132, Naples Italy

Castel dell'Ovo (in English, Egg Castle) is a seaside castle in Naples, located on the former island of Megaride, now a peninsula, on the Gulf of Naples in Italy. The castle's name comes from a legend about the Roman poet Virgil, who had a reputation in the Middle Ages as a great sorcerer and predictor of the future. In the legend, Virgil put a magical egg into the foundations to support the fortifications. Had this egg been broken, the castle would have been destroyed and a series of disastrous events for Naples would have followed. The castle is located between the districts of San Ferdinando and Chiaia, facing Mergellina across the sea.

Pompeii was a dream. Seeing paintings thousands of years old and touches in the town showing us how little people have changed. Fabiano was amazing. Naples nice too. Pizza wasn't great but you get what you pay for! Warning, it can be a very hot day with no shade and a lot of walking so be prepared. Bus great, driver great.

I give this tour 3 stars because for the money I was hoping for a little more and our bus was not that clean. The sites in Naples were all at a distance and the viewpoint overlooking the bay was not that spectacular. The pizza lunch was good, but very busy with a few buses at the same time. I was not a fan of stopping at the Cameo showroom as it really felt too touristy like the glass factories on Murano. The visit to Pompeii was fantastic, however. It was my second visit and nice to learn and see a little more than my first time there. There is truly too much to see in only 2 hours! Our guide was wonderful! Pompeii is definitely a must. If I go again, however, I will go with on a different tour.

The day started early at 7.30 at the busstop at Viale Luigi Einaudi (near Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri) where we were guided to the right bus. This day Alessia was our guide and proved to be an excellent guid, starting with some info about Rome as we passed to it to get to the highway. After 1,5 hours we had a stop at a small restaurant so you could buy some coffee or breakfast (not included) and for the toitlets. Then ~1 hour more to Naples where 2 extra guides stepped in the bus, 1 for English 1 for French/German. We all received a audioguide so we could listen to the specific guide. Our English guide was Fabiano. He explained all we saw in Naples as we drove through it. We only made one stop and that was for the view on vulcano Vesuvio and the coastal line. Very beautifull side. The viewpoint was nice, the rest of Naples not so much. After the stop continued to Pompeii where we first went to a nice restaurant for the included pizza lunch. Options were Margaritha (tomatosauce with cheese), Marinara (only tomatosauce with a couple of olives) or Mozzarella/Proscuitto (no tomatosaus). The pizzas were good but they could have told the Marinara was without cheese. 1 Drink was included and a dessert but that was just a bit of cake with whipped creme. Not really nice. After this to the entrance of Pompeii. As Alessia was buying our tickets we could go to a Cameo (?) shop for a small explanation about making jewelry from shelves. Personally and I think for most people they didn't really find this interesting but we had to wait anyways. Then we went with Fabiano to Pompeii archeological site. He showed us around in ~2 hours to the most important/interesting places. As Pompeii is really big this is good to see a lot without getting lost. Ofcourse you could spent more time in it but for me this was just fine. Then back to Rome with again 1 stop at the small restaurant. And arrived back a bit before 8 o'clock at the busstation. Overall we were really happy about the tour! Definitely recommend it if you don't have a car.

The early morning hotel pick up was punctualThe tour was good Naples was only a drive thru town with a 10 minute stop for photos The Pompei was good but it absorbed the entire afternoon. no time to shop for nick nacks .. The lunch was an hour long at a hotel in Naples Besides food being cold ..it lacked taste. It was 3 hour bus ride each way with a 30 minute rest stop. Not enough time in Pompei although our tour guides were knowledgeable they were operating on time constraints to the minute.. felt like cattle being hurdled along

A well organised and comfortable day. We walked to the pick up point and the bus left at 7.30am and we had a breakfast stop at about 9.00am. Next was a tour of Naples with a stop for photos overlooking the bay. Lunch was really good and the venue was great as there was just our coach being served in a light and airy room and was a good opportunity to talk to other travellers. We had a 2 hour tour of Pompeii with Vittorio our guide. It doesn't sound a long time but Vittorio showed us the most interesting parts of the ruins with a great sense of humour and knowledge. We then had half an hour to ourselves. The group met again at 4.30pm and after a bus journey of approximately one and a half hours we had a quick stop arriving back in the centre of Rome at around 8.00pm. It was a long day but well worth it as you get to see some beautiful Italian countryside and the imposing sight of Mount Vesuvius.
