Tour start at 9:00AM. guide will meet you by the entrance of the metro Station “Circo Massimo”, Line B ( blue color ). By foot will reach the Baths of Caracalla the second largest Public Baths in the ancient City of Rome. Built by Emperor Caracalla, son of well famous Emperor Septimius Severus, between 212AD and 217AD. The mosts preserve example of Public baths in Rome that have influence also on modern architecture. Baths consisted of a central cold room, frigidarium in latin, almost 110 ft high, 39 metres, a double pool with temperate water, tepidarium, and a circular hot room. The complex had also two palaestrae where roman practiced boxing and wrestling. Next to the calidarium, the hot room, there where saunas.
After the visit to the Baths a walk of abut 1 Km along the begin of the Appian Way will take to the old Appian Door, later called Saint Sebastian Door, one of the 18 doors of the Aurelian Wall. The visit to the Museum of the Wall will let you discover the system of defense of the Walls belt of the City walking along the wall, guide will show you the rooms of the guards and will take you up to the towers to enjoy a beautiful view of an unknown side of the Eternal City. At the end of the visit a private Van will wait for you for a panoramic tour along another side of the wall with a stop for a photo, then the panoramic tour will proceed to Porta San Paolo, originally called Porta Ostiensis, a view of the Pyramid of Cestius. At the and of the panoramic tour by the Pyramid driver will take to your Hotel, if within the Aurelian walls. For those who stay in Hotel outside the Aurelian Wall driver will take back to the meeting point by the Station “Circo Massimo” of the Metro Line “B”.
