Truly amazing and worth every cent... the guide was friendly, welcoming, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable.... could not have been better. A private tour is the best way to see a location and get the local flavor. The skip the line part of a private tour is worth every cent.

We loved the tour, our tour guide was very knowlegeable and passionate about history. It was just my husband and I and the tour was very efficient, the guide wisked us up before other larger groups. We even got a private blessing at the Vatican because of her quickness. I would recommend to anyone.

Eva was an amazing guide! Her knowledge of the history of Rome was incredible and she related it so well to each site. If you get an opportunity to tour Rome book it and request Eva .

This tour was not worth the price we paid. I thought we spent too much time walking the streets of the city, talking about the ruins we saw along the way, and not enough time at the sites that mattered! We must have spent 15 minutes if that! at the Sistine Chapel. What a disappointment! I would have loved to spend more time just sitting there and enjoy the magnificent art above me.

My husband and I traveled to Rome in June with another couple. We were very eager to see as many historical sites as possible but we were limited in time. We opted to book the Things to do in Rome in a day tour through Viator because the itinerary looked great, the price was nice, and we preferred to have a private tour. I will offer up some advice, make sure you follow the instructions provided when booking this tour. Wear comfortable clothing. Make sure your knees and shoulders are covered, wear lots of sunscreen and most importantly, wear comfortable shoes. We walked 10 miles the day of our tour! Our guide Katia met us at the metro station just across from the Colosseum. She was friendly and spoke amazing english. After a brief meet and greet our whirlwind adventure began. We crossed the street and toured the Colosseum and the arch of Constantine outside the Colosseum. Katia's extensive knowledge of the Colosseum was very impressive. We gazed out over the Colosseum and took pictures as she shared amazing stories of the battles that occurred in there. She also carried a picture book which showed recreations of what the structures looked like in the full glory. Shortly after leaving the Colosseum, we began our journey through the roman forum. We talked about the roads, the aqua ducts, the sewer systems and all of the infrastructure necessary to make Rome the greatest city of it's time. We paused in front of various structures and buildings throughout the forum and Katia imparted her knowledge and stories to bring each structure to life for us. One of my favorite such structures was the Arch of Titus which we spent much time discussing and photographing. We were supposed to tour the Parthenon also but our hotel was directly across the street from there so we opted to tweak the schedule which allowed us more time touring other places we may not have otherwise experienced such at the Piazza Navona. It was wonderful to take in the beauty of the plaza as Katia described the fountains and the artist who designed them, as well as, the family who commissioned those artist. If you truly enjoying learning details of the past and feeling as though you've stepped back in time to the days of the glory of ancient Rome then this is the tour for you. After visiting the Piazza, we broke from our guide to enjoy a private lunch on our own and then we rejoined Katia after at the entrance to the Vatican museum. As you could imagine, we spent several hours in the museum as well as the Basilica learning everything Katia could teach us in that short period of time. It was quite a pleasure being in the company of such a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Being able to skip the lines at all the various attractions really saved us time as well. We opted to end our tour at the entrance of St. Peter's Basilica so that we could make the journey into the cupola at St. Peter's. We were sad to say goodbye to Katia as she quickly became a friend during our day long journey. While the amount of time you could spend in Rome touring the vast wealth of historical sites available and studying the stories of glory, if you only have a day to see Rome, I highly recommend this tour. You will most certainly see the highlights of the city while gaining a great understanding of the amazing history and culture that Rome has to offer. If you decide to do this tour, I would absolutely recommend you request Katia. You will not be disappointed. We look forward to returning again and again.
