I booked this tour thinking that it would be a fun and enjoyable way to see Rome. I have been on many different walking tours in many different places and have always felt that walking tours are a great way to see and learn about whatever city you are visiting. However, this was honestly the worst walking tour that I have ever been on. In addition, I have had many great guides, but the guide, Arthur, or Arturo was honestly the worst guide I have ever had. For the high amount I paid for this tour, I was expecting the guide to be completely different than the guide that was provided. I expected the guide to be: 1.) Italian (ARTHUR/ARTURO was German. I wanted the guide to be a local and Italian. 2.) Interesting and informative. None of the information that the guide ARTHUR/ARTURO provided was interesting to listen to. I have been on many walking tours where even if you're not interested in the landmark discussed, the guide's comments are interesting to listen to. In addition, most guides on walking tours provide really interesting facts about both the city you are visiting and/or the country you are visiting as well. He provided very little information, and whatever information that he provided was extremely uninteresting. He was so extremely boring. On many of the walking tours I have been on, the guide is extremely engaging and you want to keep on listening. Many guides also are great storytellers and tell some really interesting tales. ARTHUR/ARTURO was extremely dull and bland. 3.) Enthusiastic. ARTHUR/ARTURO showed no enthusiasm about anything on the tour. Normally on walking tours the guide enthusiastically points out both descriptive and interesting facts about what is being seen. Each time that we passed by, I had to ask him to provide information about the landmark like he was doing me a favor. Also, a little bit of humor certainly would not have hurt! ARTHUR/ARTURO had no humor whatsoever! He also did not show everything that the tour advertised! He clearly was a major disappointment and really ruined part of the day by giving such an awful tour. After this lousy tour, I took a different tour with a different tour operator. We walked through and saw some of the same sites that we saw, but received a whole lot more interesting and complete information than ARTHUR/ARTURO provided us. THIS TOUR WAS BOTH A WASTE OF TIME AND A COMPLETE RIP-OFF! SHAME ON REX TOURS FOR PROVIDING US WITH SUCH AN AWFUL TOUR AND AWFUL GUIDE!
