Rome Ancient City and Colosseum Belvedere Tour
More than 40 years have passed since the last visitor was able to step onto the highest tiers of the Colosseum. Since then, thousands of groups have visited the biggest arena in the world, but their climb had to stop at the 3rd tier. Now the 4th and 5th levels of the Colosseum have finally re-opened to groups and their guides and you can finally reach the very top of the building, to enjoy a breath-taking view over Rome. Of course this is a comprehensive tour and your guide will also lead you inside the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill archeological area, to offer you a complete overview of the history of this ancient civilization.
What were the 4th and 5th tiers of the Colosseum used for? While the lower levels were reserved for richest merchants and business men (3rd tier) and to knights, patricians, nobles and senators (1st and 2 tiers) the highest rings were reserved to the thousands of lower classes spectators, coming to attend the gladiatorial games and the events organized inside the Colosseum during the ancient times. Our English-speaking guides will lead you through corridors and staircases still wonderfully preserved and explain what used to happen here in Ancient Rome - you will be able to see what’s left of the restrooms the public used during the games and admire a series of wall writings, carved by the workers employed in the construction of the building in the 1st century AD!
Your guide will give you some time to take wonderful pictures to show your friends and family back home. You’ll have the chance to admire the ruins of the ancient city of Rome, including the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill, as well as the inside of the Colosseum, with a stunning bird-view perspective. Looking at it from above you’ll realize how big the Colosseum actually is, compared to what it looks like from the 1st or 2 levels. After all, it is the biggest arena on Earth!
This 3-hour long tour includes headset and skip-the-line admission tickets so that you have to worry about nothing but enjoying your exploration of this incredible site. We look forward to meeting you in Rome!
