About this activity
Travel back in time at the time of Ancient Rome with a 3-hours walk: enjoy a panoramic view of the Circus Maximus and rethink the stories of the ancient Romans.
Discover the history of Republican Rome with a 3-hours walk through some of the most important ruins of the Roman Empire.
After that, let loose from the ruins of the Circus Maximus, built by King Tarquinio Prisco to accommodate the rushes of the whales. The tour will let you know the history of the Circus Maximus, including the legendary Sabine Rat episode. Cross the Circus to admire the Mouth of Truth, the mask depicting the face of a bearded man on the porch of the Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin.
Enter your hand in the Mouth of Truth that, according to the legend, would have been able to unveil a liar; to them, in fact, the hand was cut off.
Along the way, you will also be able to admire various temples dating back to ancient Rome, such as the Temple of Vesta, in addition to the Fontana del Bizzaccheri, the Arch of Giano and the Fountain of the Tritons. You will end the tour at Teatro Marcello, built in the last years of the Roman Republic as the smaller version of the Colosseum.
You’ll also have a boxed lunch to enjoy during the program (vegetarian and vegan options are available), and a souvenir so you won't forget this amazing day.
