About this activity
Rise early and meet your guide at the Vatican Museums. Before entering, get a fascinating introduction to the history of the Sistine Chapel and its extraordinary art from your expert guide. Then, head inside and enter the world-famous Sistine Chapel a full hour before the main, daytime crowds are allowed to enter. As one of the first visitors of the day, make the most of this hallowed sanctuary. Gaze in awe at its two Michelangelo masterpieces — the sublime

The Creation of Adam ceiling fresco, and breathtaking

The Last Judgment. From here, explore the art-stuffed halls of the Vatican Museums, taking in the Gallery of Maps, Gallery of the Tapestries and Raphael Rooms as your guide details the highlights of this priceless art collection, amassed by popes through five centuries. Next, visit spectacular St Peter’s Basilica, seeing its dome and Michelangelo’s

La Pietà, before riding a taxi to Rome’s historical center. Here, stroll the charming streets to see the 2nd-century Pantheon and throw a coin in Trevi Fountain before enjoying free time for lunch (own expense) and continuing to the Colosseum.

The Colosseum draws big crowds, so your skip-the-line ticket is a great bonus. Bypass the main entrance lines and dive into three of the monument’s limited-access areas. Descend to the underground level, open only to a limited number of people daily, and explore the dungeons where gladiators and animals were kept before being hurled into the arena. Continue to the arena floor and hear about the gory battles staged here as your guide points out the areas of original flooring. Finally, visit the Colosseum’s upper tier to ogle the epic views of the arena below. Then, walk up nearby Palatine Hill, and hear about Rome’s ancient origins before exploring the Roman Forum below. Inspect the main ruins of this ancient area and then end your tour after saying goodbye to your guide.

Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required.

ABOUT OUR 6 PEOPLE SMALL GROUP POLICY

When you book a small group tour, you are guaranteed one tour guide per group of 6 people. Please bear in mind though that in order to accommodate traveling families and friends, we do on rare occasion make the exception of adding an additional one to two guests in order not to split groups who are traveling together. On that same note, you may find yourself on tour with less than six people. As we accept bookings in multiples of six, math doesn’t always work in our favor to help accommodate individual travelers and their families when on the same tour, so we hope you understand and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We had a fantastic time on the tour with Luca and our two traveling companions. The tour was everything we could have wished for and more. Luca was an excellent and very knowledgable tour guide. We saw and learned so many wonderful things about Roma and had much fun in the process. The whole day went smoothly. We covered quite a bit of territory, We visited the Vatican, skipped the line at the Sistine Chapel before the crowds came, saw Saint Peter's Basilica, the beautiful Trevi Fountain and skipped the line at the Colloseum, including the underground cells, We forgot our camera, so Luca even took photos of us and emailed them to us. Even the place we stopped for lunch was great! We highly recommend this tour to all who really want to see the best of Roma. Thanks so much, Luca and Livitaly.

So the Vatican is way too big to negotiate yourself and understand anything but the flip side is that you do a tour and get talked to death! I was hoping for something in the middle. Doing the Vatican and the Colesseum all in one day should not be tour as it is way too much for one person to digest when they are on vacation. This tour should also come with a warning. Didn't have much fun, too much preaching!

As it was our first time to Rome, visits to the Vatican and the Colosseum were a priority. This tour exceeded expectations. Our day began in Vatican City and ended at the Colosseum. We had unexpected stops at the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain and Palatine Hill. Built into our day was lunch and gelato. Our tour guide Luca was friendly, insightful and full of knowledge at every stop. Although appropriate attire is expected in Vatican City, comfortable shoes are a must. The private van for transportation was incredible but you will be walking throughout the day. Our July day was very hot as well - always have water. Thank you Luca!

This was the most amazing tour possible! We had an incredible guide - Luca - who was incredibly knowledgeable, charming, and witty. We traveled throughout Europe for three weeks, and this tour was the highlight of the entire trip. The tour started at the Vatican where we got early entree to explore for about an hour I believe before the general population. Because we were such a small group - 6 people only - we moved quickly to all of the highlights and often found ourselves in rooms/sections alone. After seeing the Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica, we were driven by a private driver to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and our lunch spot. After lunch, we continued our tour of the Colosseum where we skipped the line and got access to the underground cells and the very top upper tier. This tour was worth every penny. We have already recommended it to our friends!

Amazing tour! We were so glad that we booked this tour together to see both the Vatican and Colosseum. The tour guide was amazing. We were with her at the Vatican and because our group was so small compared to other groups she really kept track of us and we had plenty of time to get all our questions answered. The sistine chapel was incredible! We had plenty of time to sit or stand and enjoy the awesome artwork. We had early entrance into the sistine chapel which was well worth the money. She made sure we were one of the first visitors to enter the chapel. She got the taxi to the Colosseum and helped us to find a great little place for lunch. The Colosseum tour was incredible! Seeing underground and hearing about the history made the tour amazing! We were able to skip the lines at both places which is so worth your time and money and get right up close and personal with all there is to see. When we return, we will book this tour again with the same company! We had other tours in Rome with big tour groups and we have decided for future travels we will be booking with this tour company. The experience is unmatchable!
