With our guide you will explore the most famous galleries of Vatican Museums, including Pinacoteca with the papal collection of the most refined Italian masters such as Raphael, Caravaggio, Giotto, Perugino and Leonardo Da Vinci. The Painting gallery is also famous for the collection of Tapestries from the Sistine Chapel whose drawing have been done by Raphael for the Pope Leo X Medici.
You will visit the Gallery of the Candelabra where you will admire Roman antique sculptures and beautiful and fascinating artworks on the walls and ceilings. In the Gallery of Maps, you will explore the 16th century collection of topographical maps of Italy painted by the cosmographer, Friar Ignazio Danti for the Pope of the Gregorian Calendar called Gregory XIII.
You will proceed visiting the Raphael Rooms rich of amazing wall paintings , including the School of Athens, commissioned to the artist by the Pope Julius II and Pope Leo X Medici. Your tour includes the visit of the sensational Borgia Apartments, once private residence of the pope Alexander VI and his family. The Borgia apartment was painted by Pinturicchio and his school but in the recent years it became the modern art gallery and inside there is an exhibition including Rodin, Dali and Chagall and Kandinsky.
Our tour can’t miss the visit of the Sistine Chapel with the jaw-dropping Michelangelo’s frescoes, you will remain astonished by the stunning frescoes. The highlights of the Sistine chapel are the Last Judgement and the Creation of the World both by Michelangelo who worked in the Sistine Chapel twice on commission of Pope Julius II and Paul III.
