Shore excursion: Rome and its Dolce Vita
Jump off the ship and join us on an unforgettable experience! Experience the magic of the Eternal City with this half-day long tour.
Start your visit with a special view of St. Peter's Square: immersed in the greenery of the Priorato Gardens, you'll discover a view of the Vatican which can be "peeped" through the keyhole. It is something unique and special that you won't forget.
Then we'll go up from Circus Maximus to Aventine, to stretch our legs and admire the beautiful city of Rome from a completely different perspective.
We're just a short walk from Via Veneto, made famous by Fellini's La Dolce Vita. And then the famous Piazza di Spagna opens up below us like a hand fan. We'll go down the famous Trinità dei Monti staircase and meet the peculiar Barcaccia Fountain.
Just a few steps from us, there it is, the Trevi Fountain! You can't dive into the water as in Federico Fellini's film, but you can turn around and throw a coin into it. Make a wish, perhaps that you'll return to Rome one day!
The beauty of Rome also lies on the fact that there are so many beautiful sites close to one another. In fact, not too far from the Fountain we find the Pantheon, a temple dedicated to all gods. Another 400 meters and we'll reach Piazza Navona, crowded with street performers and talented portraitists.
We will then cross Corso Vittorio Emanuele and find ourselves in front of the Tiber. We have a difficult decision to make: St. Peter's Basilica is on the left, while Castel Sant'Angelo is to the right. We'll head to the Basilica and, if we're lucky, we'll reach just in time to admire it when it is kissed by sun rays and the facade is filled with wonderful colors and shades.
On our bus back to the port we'll cross the whole city of Rome for another salute to one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
