About this activity
Meet your guide in front of the Cafè Vaticano directly across from the Vatican Museums for your small-group tour. Discover some of the most famous paintings and sculptures from western civilization and listen to amusing anecdotes about the former popes and artists represented in the museums. With a small-group tour of maximum of six people, easily maneuver through the crowded museums at a comfortable pace. With the personalized attention of your guide, ask all the questions you like.

Skip-the-line to access the Vatican Museums and begin your small-group tour promptly. After a view of the terrace over the Vatican gardens, make your way across the beautiful early Renaissance courtyard to admire Hadrian's Pinecone, and then to the modern art piece of Arnaldo Pomodoro. As your knowledgeable guide presents interesting facts and stories, you will then head to the magnificent Octagonal Courtyard which is one of the most remarkable collections of Roman and Greek artifacts. Admire the famous Belvedere Torso, learn about the mystery of the Laocoon Priest of Troy, and visit the Muses Room. After a short stop for wonderful pictures, continue through the Round Room and the Greek Cross Room.

Walk up the stairs and through the beautiful galleries to admire an abundance of candelabra, tapestries, and maps. Then head to the Julius II apartments and see the grandeur and the magnificent details of the Raphael Rooms.

Next, learn of Michelangelo's masterpiece from your guide before you enter through a tiny door to admire the majestic Sistine Chapel. Take in its grandeur in contemplative silence. The tour will end with a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica where you will access the church directly through a VIP passage to skip the long line. Enjoy the awe-inspiring visit and be amazed at the size of the beautifully adorned Basilica.

ABOUT OUR 6 PEOPLE SMALL GROUP POLICY

When you book a small group tour, you are guaranteed one tour guide per group of 6 people. Please bear in mind though that in order to accommodate traveling families and friends, we do on rare occasion make the exception of adding an additional one to two guests in order not to split groups who are traveling together. On that same note, you may find yourself on tour with less than six people. As we accept bookings in multiples of six, math doesn’t always work in our favor to help accommodate individual travelers and their families when on the same tour, so we hope you understand and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Alessia, our guide from Livitaly as the tour operator, was superb as a tour guide. Knowledgeable, friendly, and exceptional in every way. The small group tour (there were only two of us) was a real plus. We wish Alessia could have been our guide for our entire trip

Davide was a charming guide whose lively and humorous presentation engaged us and our teenage son while showing off some of the treasures of the museum and helping to put them in context. The small group format was very intimate and personalized. We appreciated his making time for the highlights of the Raphael rooms. As an architect, I would have liked a bit more of a presentation on the architecture of St. Peter's, but that's not really a criticism of the tour. Overall, it was great!
