What You Can Expect

Unlike other food tours, we don’t just sample Italian foods and wines, but we take you on a journey from North to South as we explore how culinary traditions change throughout the Italian peninsula. Our agenda covers the classic Italian evening of aperitivo, dinner, and gelato, but with a friendly introduction to real, local food places consistent with regional traditions. The evening starts with the classic Italian aperitivo, a tradition of relaxing over a “stomach-opening” drink with some snacks before dinner.

We’ll visit a local shop run by a level 3 wine sommelier (ICE) who hand selects products sourced directly from Puglia, in southern Italy — so you can be sure you are trying some of the best local foods and wines available in Rome. Did you know that there isn’t only one way to make pizza in Italy? Learn about our pizza traditions on our next stop, where we taste the best Roman pizza in the city. Our guides will give you in-depth local knowledge about all of the sights we pass as we prepare ourselves for the next delicious treat. Our tour heads to northern Italian cuisine next, where we visit a warehouse-turned-wine bar known amongst locals as one of Rome’s gems. Run by a Venetian with a dedication to high quality wines and food products, it’s a Roman favorite for tasting plates, similar to Spanish tapas, which include meatballs, small sandwiches, olives, veggies, seafood and meat on top of a slice of bread or polenta. Here, we’ll enjoy appetizers, prosecco, and wine. For dinner, we’ll enjoy classic Roman pasta dishes prepared in a classic Italian family - owned restaurant. Our friends, Vito and Dina.

To conclude our evening of delicacies, we will enjoy artisanal, award-winning gelato from the best gelateria in town, one of very few that focuses on natural, in-season ingredients.
