My wife and I have traveled extensively and gone on numerous guided tours over the years. On June 12 we took part in this Tivoli day trip. Our guide was absolutely terrible. Her walking pace was extremely fast despite being advised to slow down because of seniors struggling with the pace. She refused to wear her headset properly and as a result, many times you could not clearly here her commentary. This was pointed out to her with negative results. I consider myself an advanced historian, but even for me, I found her way too far out there. She knew the history will, but was unable to deliver the message to us all. It was only after a few minutes in which she lost the entire group. Also disappointing was that I understood this to be a small group tour. I was disappointed to find out that there were 29 people in attendance. Many people on the tour thought the same While I have used Viator guided excursions in the last, I found this particular tour fell far short of aviators standards.
Our day for Tivoli started out with a great drive out of Rome and into the countryside. The Hadrian's Villa was much more than we expected plus the fountains at the Villa d'Este were the highlight of the day! We thoroughly enjoyed the lunch which gave us a chance to talk with others enjoying the tour!
This tour was not worth the money. If you have seen Pompeii and the Roman Forum, this is the same. The lunch was mediocre but had good wine. The tour guide was pleasant and friendly but hard to understand and went off topic a lot. I also am not one to be engaged in conversation, just want to listen and observe. She did not let this happen and would call you out if not paying attention and answering her questions.
Our guide was great the ruins where ok as ruins go. A lot of walking we thought at that point it was a 3 or 4 star tour. BUT THEN we saw the fountains, TAKE THIS TOUR the fountains where amazing. Lunch was worth it, very good.
