Pass By: St. Peter's Square (Piazza San Pietro), Vatican City Italy
Renowned for its stunning Renaissance architecture, St. Peter’s Basilica is the biggest church in the world, the most important in Christendom and one of the best things to see in Rome. Beginning in 1506, the construction of the Basilica passed from architect to architect until its completion in 1626. Crowning the interior of the church is a grand dome designed by Michelangelo at the impressive age of 72. The structure was so well- thought out, it served the model for many other domes around the world. What's even more interesting is that you can climb up and enjoy the view of Rome from its terrace.

Really interesting tour. Very good guide in Monika Blanc.
Lots of issues leading up to the event. Really thought we had been ripped off with last minute change to time of the visit and guide not showing up. We were also given the wrong location to meet and we really thought that there was no visit and that it was a big con. Once we finally managed to contact the people we discovered that the people we booked through had gone bust ?? but we had only booked it about 2 weeks earlier. And they apologised that they had given us lots of incorrect information from the first communication right up to the change of details the previous night. We finally caught up with our guide who was very good. Not sure how you guard against this happening in future.
