The first part of your tour will be in one the special off-limits area of the Vatican Museums, which can be visited only with the permit of access: the Bramante Staircase. The double helix of the Bramante staircase was built to permit Pope Julius II to enter directly with his carriage into his apartments.

After having visited the Bramante Staircase, you will proceed to the rooms of the Vatican Museums. First of all, in the Octagonal Courtyard, you will admire the Apollo of Belvedere and the Laocoon marble group. In the Room of the Animals and the Room of the Muses, you will have the opportunity to see beautiful statues recreate a marble zoo and the statue of Apollo playing a Lira and the Torso in the center. In the Round Room, you will see Nero’s bathtub, encircled by many important huge Roman statues.

During your tour, you will have some time to stop in the panoramic terrace, where you will be able to admire a beautiful view of St. Peter's Basilica. After this stop, you will approach the Sistine Chapel, passing through Vatican Museums' rooms and galleries.

Once in the Upper Galleries you will see the Gallery of the Maps, the one of the Tapestries, and the one of Candelabra. The guide will explain to you that these were in the space once dedicated to the Pope’s apartments.

Then, you will enter the Raphael Rooms, the space painted by a young Raphael for Pope Julius II. Here you will be able to admire many artworks; among these "School of Athens" is a real masterpiece. Raphael created it when Michelangelo was painting the Sistine Chapel's ceiling. In this amazing work of art, we can recognize Raphael himself, together with some contemporaries, as Bramante and Michelangelo. Other beautiful artworks are located in these rooms, such as the "Dispute over the Sacrament" and the "Parnassus".

After having visited the Stanze di Raffaello, you will enter another restricted area of the Vatican Museums: the Nicholas Chapel. Painted by the Dominican Monk Fra Angelico for the Pope Nicholas V in 1448, this tiny chapel s now considered one of the artistic treasures of the early Renaissance. Here you will have the opportunity to admire the St. Steven’s and St. Lawrence’s lives' scenes depicted with bright and brilliant colors.

When in the Sistine Chapel, you will be amazed by the view of the marvelous Michelangelo's frescoes. His depiction of the Last Judgement and the Creation of the World with stories of the life of Noah are among the most beautiful works of art in all the Vatican.

Stop At: St. Peter's Basilica, Piazza di San Pietro, 00120 Vatican City Italy

Finally, you will reach the splendid St. Peter's Basilica, where you will admire the artworks of both the Genius of Renaissance and the Genius of the Baroque. Michelangelo, the Genius of Renaissance, created the astonishing Pietà, where he faithfully depicted Mary's suffering. On the other hand, the Genius of the Baroque, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, created the marvelous Baldacchino conserved in the Basilica.
