Stop At: Vatican Necropolis, Piazza San Pietro Beneath St. Peter’s Basilica, 00120 Vatican City Italy

Explore deep down under the Vatican City and travel through the rarely seen and mostly unknown excavations below Saint Peter’s Basilica and join us on what is truly the most exclusive of experiences in all of Rome (max 15 persons). You will take part in this expedition in to the little known Vatican Necropolis.

The incredible Vatican Necropolis, once being an ancient Pagan & Christian cemetery and burial ground from the 1st century, this is the presumed location of Saint Peter’s burial tomb. Saint Peter is famously one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ and the first recognized leader and Pope of the Catholic Church.

You will go down, through the Scavi (underground tunnels and galleries), into the lowest levels of St. Peter's Basilica.The Scavi tour goes down below the Grotto (area just beneth St. Peter Basilica, where lie the monuments, chapels and tombs of past Popes), to the Necropolis area

This is perhaps the most sacred site within Vatican City, and amazingly you can now visit it with us on this exclusive experience!

Positioned just below the Renaissance basilica and above Constantine’s 4th century basilica, the grottoes contain chapels dedicated to various saints and tombs of kings, queens and popes, dating from the 10th century.

Continuing on through the St.Peter's Basilica you’ll marvel at the masterpieces of the Baroque genius Bernini (his Canopy is the largest bronze object in the world) and at the awe-inspiring Pietà Michelangelo's masterpiece.

Stop At: Colle del Gianicolo, Via Garibaldi Salita di Sant'Onofrio, 00165 Rome Italy

Your driver will pick you up at the end of the Necropolis tour.

Prepare to be dazzled by the charming afternoon atmosphere of Rome. Along the way around the city you may have some short stops in order to take some photos, as well as get a closer look at some of the spectacular monuments, such as the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Saint Peters Basilica and many more.

Be astounded by the lights of the various bridges arched over the River Tiber and travel down the elegantly & enchantingly picturesque streets of Rome. The tour will end with the absolutely breathtaking views of Rome from the terrace of Gianicolo before being taken back to your accommodation.
