Tutukau Gorge Jet Boat Ride and The Squeeze

Make your own way to the jet boat office located approximately 30-minutes outside Rotorua for your late morning or afternoon jet boat adventure to The Squeeze.

After a safety briefing and orientation, your boat driver assists you to get fitted with the provided life jacket, plus dry top and wetsuit as needed. When ready, head to the dock to board the sleek and powerful jet boat.

Your experience begins with a scenic ride through the Tutukau Gorge, passing the Orakei Korako geothermal park en route. Sit back, take in the remarkable landscape and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as your driver shares the history and legends of the area.

Soon your boat turns from the main river to enter a narrow creek where your driver drops anchor. Hop into warm water that comes up to your knees and follow your experienced driver between sheer high rocks to reach a narrow gap in the cliff. You'll see how The Squeeze got its name as you wedge yourself into the tight gap, then climb over boulders, slip through crevasses, and step around stones and logs. It’s all part of the fun and your driver makes sure that everyone can handle the obstacles. Suddenly you emerge near a stunning waterfall coursing with warm water. You can sit under the waterfall and let the pounding water massage your back, then lounge in the warm pools around the falls.

Relaxed from soaking in thermal waters, retrace your steps to return to the boat. Then hang on tight during a thrilling high-speed ride back to the dock. Your expert driver races around the narrow waterways and performs hair-raising 360-degree spins that leave you and your fellow passengers shrieking in delight.
