Itinerary

Experience excavating or mining your own amethyst gem and learn about all the stone’s mythical and magical properties of the Shamans. Located about 120km away from Rovaniemi city, Lampivaara is also within the Arctic Circle and has its own unique scenery with its primitive virgin forest. A place also known to the locals as a ski destination, ride the big snow pendolino (snow train) onto the top of Lampivaara to enter the Amethyst mine. Expect to hear real stories such as history, legends of the crystal and the ancient mountain from the Amethyst mine tour. Before returning to Rovaniemi, enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding Pyhä-Luosto national park with a light trek by snowshoes towards a fire pit to grill some sausages.
