We went on this tour with Victor in December 2017 and are so happy we signed up. We consider ourselves well-read and had toyed with the idea of simply walking around Machu Picchu on our own, but touring it with Victor and getting the ins and outs of what the different stones meant, how they were placed, etc., is knowledge we absolutely could not have gotten with a book or the internet. He brought us to each little spot and explained it thoroughly, which we loved. It brought a lot of meaning to the ruins for us. He also helped us get set up for our hike up Huayna Picchu, which we recommend not for the faint of heart!. Lastly, he took so many great pictures of us! Thanks for a memorable guided tour of these breathtaking ruins!

We only had a day trip to see Machu Picchu and I booked this tour just a few days before we were going there. When we arrived we had someone meet us outside of the train station, they walked us down to the buses, however, we had to get tickets, you cannot get them online and all of the places to get them on the weekend closed early, before we arrived in Cusco. The line took awhile, and we were put onto our bus for the 25 minute drive up the mountain from Aquas Caliente to Machu Picchu. We were met by our Guide, Victor Hugo, I cannot say enough good things about Victor, it was fantastic, very courteous to others, and to us. He was well versed on the history, and the day to day goings on of the area. Victor made sure that we were able to see all of the best views and catered our tour to our wanting to photography pretty much anything and everything. He ensured we got to the best spots for photo taking, and he took several of my Wife and I in the most striking spots. His knowledge was spectacular, and he took very good care of us, especially on the hike up into Machu Picchu's ruins to ensure that we didn't overdue it, his pacing and rest stops were so good that several groups of individuals behind us just stayed with us. Victor knew everyone that worked there, and every other guide we met up with. He made sure to keep track of the time for us to ensure we finished the tour, made it to get in line and yes, there is quite the line to get into for you to wait for the buses, so make sure you consider that, take the bus, and leave us enough time to shop and grab a Lunch before we headed back out on the train. He came and found us in the line when we were waiting and talked with us explaining more about the area, to us and the others in line around us. We could not have had a better time, Hugo made it fantastic! We hope to return someday and will be looking to have Hugo again. Viator did a great job with getting us from the train to the bus to Hugo, I highly recommend doing this tour. And it doesn't cost that much more for you to do the private tour, do it!
