Bilbao Shore Excursion: Biscay Coastline and Villages with Traditional Basque Lunch

Pick up and 30 minute scenic ride into Bilbao city center where we make a stop at the Artxanda mountain to overlook Bilbao from a height before heading out towards the wild Biscay coast to make our first stop in the historically important town of Gernika. Former capital of the Basque Country and tragically famous from the well known Picasso painting the artist made after the severe bombings that destroyed the whole town during the Spanish civil war.

After visiting the old congress building we move on to Bermeo, one of the last fishing villages of the Basque Country with an active fishing flee where we take a short walking tour through the old town and harbor.

We then finish off our day with a stop for lunch at a height just outside of Bermeo where we find this hidden treasure: a traditional Basque restaurant with some of the most breathtaking coastal views of the region before taking the 30 min car ride back to the ship.
