We booked a pintxos cooking class with Northern Spain Gastronomy which was the highlight of our trip to Bilbao and the surrounding area. Our hosts were Irene, owner, chef and sommelier, and David, restauranteur, rugby player, and composer/pianist. Irene and David are lovely, talented and fun people. They shared their beautiful restored farmhouse and created the perfect setting for making a variety of delicious pintxos. Irene skillfully guided her four students in the careful preparation of these tasty treats, using fresh vegetables and herbs from the organic garden as well as local eggs and meats. David provided a range of wines, 50s music from his extensive collection and a brief piano performance on a grand Steinway. Afterwards, we visited the beautiful bay near their home and shared a few toasts to a great day! We will cherish our experience and hope our new friends will visit us in Maine some day. Thank you Irene and David!
