Day 1: Walking Tour in the Historical Center

On your first afternoon in Saint Petersburg you will have a good chance to get acquainted with the sights of Russia’s most European capital. During this excursion, you will get a glimpse of the:
Nevsky Prospekt
The Nevsky Avenue is a must-see on your first day in the city. The street is 4.5 kilometer-long and stretches in the very center of Saint Petersburg. A great number of churches, shops, palaces, and luxury hotels line the famous avenue. Some of the most beautiful buildings in St. Petersburg can be found here, and you don’t want to miss the atmosphere.

Kazan Cathedral
One of the largest cathedrals in Saint Petersburg, it was built in 1801-1811 by the architect Andrey Voronikhin under the order of Emperor Paul I who wanted the Cathedral to resemble St. Pete's Basilica in Vatican City. The Cathedral is simply remarkable by its plan with colonnades forming a half-round shape, and decorating the side façade of the cathedral.

Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood
The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is probably Saint Petersburg’s most iconic sight. Tsar Alexander III decided its construction as a memorial to his father, the Tsar Alexander II who was assassinated here in 1881. The Church is now a museum and was never consecrated again after the Soviets government closed it. You will be astonished by the colorful mosaics inside the church, they are truly beautiful!

Day 2: Saint Isaac’s Cathedral & Admiralty

Stop At: Saint Isaac's Square, Isaakiyevskaya Ploshchad aka St Isaac's Square Bolshaya Morskaya ul., St. Petersburg Russia
On your second afternoon in Saint-Petersburg, you will walk by the Neva River, and visit the following monuments:
Saint Isaac's Cathedral
Saint Isaac’s Cathedral is not only the largest orthodox basilica in the world but also the fourth largest cathedral in the world. Strictly speaking, it is not a proper church anymore. Like the Cathedral of the Savior on Spilled Blood, it was turned into a museum by the Soviet government and has remained a museum ever since. The church which is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia was ordered by Tsar Alexander I. When you get there, we will take you all the way to the top on the Colonnade, as this is by far one of the best view of Saint-Petersburg.

Stop At: Bronze Horseman, Monument To Peter I, Dekabristov Square, St. Petersburg Russia
The Bronze Horseman (and Senate Square)
This equestrian statue of Peter the Great is located in the Senate Square. Commissioned by Catherine the Great, it was created by the French sculptor Étienne Maurice Falconet. The name comes from the famous poem written in 1833 by Aleksander Pushkin. The statue is now one of the symbols of Saint Petersburg.

Stop At: The Building Of The Admiralty, Admiralteyskiy Drive, 1 metro Nevskiy Prospekt, St. Petersburg Russia
Admiralty Buildings
It used to be the Russia's Naval Headquarters until 1917, and now serves as a naval college. One of the many fabulous buildings you definitely should not miss on your tour through St. Petersburg is the Admiralty. The building we see today was built between 1806 and 1823 by the architect Adrian Zakharov. He maintained the original plan of the building, but turned it into a marvelous example of the Russian Empire style. The Admiralty tower, topped with its golden spire, is the focal point of three of the city's main streets; Nevsky Propect, Gorokhovaia Street and Voznesensky Prospekt, and can be seen along the entire length of each one.

Day 3: Hermitage Museum

Hermitage Museum
On that day, you will visit the world’s famous State Hermitage Museum in which is not only one of the oldest (if not the oldest one) art museums in the world, but also the second largest and one of the best. It was founded in 1764 when Catherine the Great acquired an impressive collection of paintings from the Berlin merchant Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. It has been opened to the public since 1852. The Museum is located inside the Winter Palace of Catherine the great and is composed of more than 1,500 rooms. Comprising artworks from the masters Leonardo da Vinci, Monet, Van Gogh, but also ancient Scythian Gold and artwork from the dawn of time, this museum will literally take your breath away. It also includes the largest collection of Rembrandt's paintings outside Netherlands. Its collections, of which only a small part is on permanent display, comprise over three million items (the numismatic collection accounts for about one-third of them). In fact, the Russian Tsars managed to build such a large collection of priceless artworks that it won’t even fit into the huge Winter Palace.

Day 4: Pushkin & Pavlovsk

Stop At: Tsarskoye Selo State Museum Preserve, Sadovaya St., 7, Pushkin, St. Petersburg 196601 Russia
Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin) & Pavlosk
On this day, you will have a chance to get out of the city center, and discover the small town of Pushkin which is a popular destination to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. It is located 24km south of the city center, and it was established by the imperial family as their summer residence in 1710. It gave the town its old name ‘Tsarskoye Selo’ (Tsar’s Village). In 1937 the place was renamed to Pushkin to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
The "Tsarskoye Selo" museum complex includes the Catherine Palace with its amazing adjoining gardens, the Alexander Palace and other buildings and associated parks. It is a major tourist attraction of the St Petersburg area and is included in the list of monuments protected by the UNESCO.
You will also have a chance to visit the Amber Room, sometimes referred to as The Eighth Wonder of the World.

The town of Pavlovsk which is slightly further away is adjoining Pushkin, and you will visit both towns on that day.
Pavlovsk Palace is an 18th-century Russian Imperial residence built by the order of Catherine the Great for her son, Grand Duke Paul. The palace and the large English garden surrounding it are now a Russian state museum and have also a public park.

Day 5: Peter & Paul Fortress

You will spend this afternoon in the city center of Saint Petersburg, and will get a chance to view some of its most famous wonders. The walk will include an excursion around the followings sites:
Spit of Vasilievsky Island
From there, you will get one of the best view in Saint Petersburg: the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, and the Admiralty. The two enormous Rostral Columns which were erected in 1805 to celebrate the Russian victory over the Swedish navy, dominate Vasilievsky island. At the base of the columns, sculptures depict Russia’s great rivers in allegorical form: the Volga, Dnepr, Neva, and Volkhov, two of each on the north and south columns respectively.

Stop At: Peter and Paul Fortress, Petropavlovskaya Fortress, 3, St. Petersburg 197022 Russia
Peter & Paul Fortress
The Peter and Paul Fortress marks the spot where the city of Saint Petersburg was founded. It was here that Tsar Peter the Great erected a small wooden hut in 1703 and oversaw the construction of the mighty fortress, which was built as a star fortress from 1706 to 1740. The bell tower of the Peter and Paul Cathedral (122.5 meters) is one of the highest building in St. Petersburg. The Peter and Paul Fortress also played a crucial role during the Russian revolution and was later used as a prison and execution ground by the Bolshevik government. The prison can also be visited. The Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral houses the tombs of all Imperial Russia’s rulers, including Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, and the last Russian Monarch, Nicholas II.
A tour around the walls of the fortress will show you the beautiful view of the river Neva and the Winter Palace on the other side.
