Stop At: Savior on the Spilled Blood, Griboyedova Kanala Emb., 2B/A, St. Petersburg 191186 Russia

The Spilled blood church, or The Church of Resurrection of Christ, is the real pearl of Saint Petersburg. Its decoration resembles to The Saint Basil cathedral in Moscow but the two churches have many differences. For example, the top of the Church in Saint Petersburg is covered with colorful enamels. The Spilled Blood Church was build on the spot of assassination of the Russian emperor Alexander II who is known in Russian history as the tzar liberator. The total construction took 24 years and the best Russian artists, jewelers, masters and mosaicists worked on the project. The Church of Resurrection is one of the biggest mosaic works in the world as it has 7000 square meters of mosaics inside.

Today the Church is open for visitors as a museum because the services were prohibited shortly after the Russian Revolution of 1917.

We will have guided tour inside the Cathedral (approx. 30 min)

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Kazan Cathedral, Kazanskaya Sq 2 Metro Nevskiy Prospect, St. Petersburg 191186 Russia

The Kazan Cathedral is the central active church of Saint Petersburg. It is located on the Nevsky Prospect - the main avenue of the city. The construction of the cathedral was finished in 1811 and it became the symbol of victory over Napoleon in the war that started next year. As a memory of this fact, 2 monuments of the Russian field marshals were installed in front of the church.

The Kazan Cathedral is named after the icon of Our Lady of Kazan that was brought to Moscow already in the XVI century from the city of Kazan. At the times of Peter the Great the Holy icon was sent to Saint Petersburg where it was kept until the Soviet period. Those days, the Church was turned into a Museum of Religion and Atheism and the miracle working icon was moved away. Only in 1998 the Kazan Cathedral was reconsecrated and the religious services revived.

We will enter the cathedral and have guided tour (approx. 30 min)

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: The Museum Complex The State Museum St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Isaakiyevskaya Sq., 4 Nevskiy Prospekt metro station, St. Petersburg 190000 Russia

The Saint Isaac's Cathedral rates 7th in the world and 1st in Russia by its size. The total hight of the building is 101,5 meters; volume - 3000 cubic meters. It is the magnificent work of the unite of the French architect Monferrand and the group of Russian engineers. The construction of the massive Cathedral took 40 years and it also became one of the longest constructional works in Russian history. The total estimate of the Church exceeded the cost of the famous Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg - the residence of Russian tzars. This fact is caused by the use of extremely expensive materials such as marble of 14 varieties, lapis, malachite and even gold.

Nowadays, the Saint Isaac's Cathedral is the museum representing its own history as officially it was closed after the Revolution of 1917.
